Flood zones?
Does anyone here live a flood zone? I fell in love with a house on Lido Beach, BUT then I called Geico and found out it's $2k per year for flood insurance. It is considered a "high risk" flood zone. Does anyone else have this issue? I am nervous to buy the house now (I already put in an offer) bc I obviously do not want to deal with flooding, I already had the fire issue in August!

Re: Flood zones?
Anyone who lives pretty much south of montauk hwy will need flood insurance. There are some areas more north that need it and some south that don't
Just because you need flood insurance does not mean that you will flood all the time but in big storms it may be an issue.

Re: Flood zones?
I liked a house in a island park which is a flood zone as well...put in a an offer and everything..but after doing my research the flood insurance would cost an additional $2000 a yr plus your regular home insurance would increase another $500 a yr. That really made me reconsider and we didnt buy the house...insurance always goes up and the threat of potentially flooding was not appealing.
Good luck
