Flooring installation?
Anyone know someone who installs flooring for a reasonable price? We want to put the vinyl plank that locks together in the basement and new ceramic in the kitchen. DH wants to do the basement himself but he’s never done it and it’s 500 sq ft so I feel like it’ll take him a month. We don’t need a contractor, just an handyman or even someone who knows how to tile looking to make some extra money.

we wanted the planks in the basement too, but it turns out the floor wasn't level (most basements are not), and we were advised that if you use the click and lock on uneven flooring, you will feel it click in and out in certain parts of the basement and it will be annoying. A few companies told us this. We actually went with sheet vinyl! It's extremely water-resistant and all of the companies we spoke to said it is better than planks in basements. If any part of the floor gets damaged, it's pretty easy to just cut one piece out and replace with the leftover sheet as well.
We went with JFK carpet in elmont and were happy with them. We did a faux wood look becuase the basement is a rustic beach theme

Thanks. We have the peel and stick wood look planks down there now and they are absolutely horrible (they were put in before we bought the house).
How were the prices for the sheet vinyl? The planks would cost almost $1k, plus installation if DH didn't do it himself.
Everyone just tells me to put carpeting in and I refuse.

Yep we had the peel and stick from the original owner as well. They were about to lay it right on top, because chances are there's asbestos underneath and it's better not to remove it...the sheet vinyl plus installation was around $2500. We have a cape so it's a pretty large basement... I wouldn't do carpeting, because if it gets water you'll have tp rip it all out and replace the carpet pad.
