flounder and shrimp? How much is ok?

For christmas eve DH's family is making all seafood. I am sure I can ask them to make something else too but I read online that flounder and shrimp are both very low in mercury. How much is ok to eat? I haven't really eaten fish since being preggo b/c I never know how much is ok. So what do you think? A piece of flounder and a few pieces of shrimp is ok for one night??

Also, not sure if weight plays a role...but I am very small and weigh 105 lbs.

my doc had said no fish at all.. when i went back to my next appt i told him i was going to eat fish and he agreed it was fine once a week 6 ounces .. my friends doc on the other hand told her eat what you want as long as it is in moderation. i'm sure I have had more than 6 ounces when i have eaten it but i dont eat it every week.

If it's low in mercury I would eat what you want. I mean unless you are packing away 2 lbs of each a week I think you'll be fine Chat Icon

OMG Chat Icon people need to shut the eff up. Unless you're downing a bottle of wine while chain smoking cigarettes and shooting heroin they should not butt in!

This is what I decided to do. I will ask MIL to make some chicken cutlets so that I can eat that with some shrimp on the side.

flounder is very low in mercury and is fine. I think the doc said i could have 2 servings a week.

Shrimp I would eat, but only have a few. We aren't supposed to have too much shrimp.

Enjoy a little of whatever you really like. THe omega 3 in the fish is good for the baby :) just watch what fish you're eating.

Re: flounder and shrimp? How much is ok?

we only eat fish on Christmas Eve and I will be enjoying it all! Pulpo (octopus in garlic) is my favorite but I also eat calamari, scungili, shrimp, lobster tails, crab legs, baked clams. Im praying I dont go into labor since that is my EDD!

I love seafood and the doctor gave me the ok since day one, he said 2x a week is ok. The fish that was prohibited was predator fish and I wouldnt eat it anyway (the only one i recognized was shark and I never heard of eating that!)

I love this list, because it actually tells you what amounts of different seafood are okay
