Flower and Plant ideas - Full sun
I cut out an area on both sides of the walkway that goes up to my front door and right now there are inpatiens planted there but I think since the sun is so strong that they are not going to do so well there, so I am thinking about removing them and planting them somewhere else.
What can I replace them with? Any ideas would really help me.
I was thinking about Marigolds, but I am not sure.....
Right now I have red and white impatiens in my front flower bed and they are starting to do well, since the area is part sun and part shade, and I have pink and white impatiens on the side of my home and they are starting to do well.
I want to do something that will pop in the walkway. Any ideas? Thanks, Scott

Re: Flower and Plant ideas - Full sun
daisies maybe? I haven't researched as much with flowers yet, but we just put some plants in over the weekend and we're in full sun/southern exposure.
we put 2 small boxwood bushes in and 2 barberry bushes (they're red & green, sooo nice!!!)
here's some pics:
crimson pygmy dwarf barberry
variegated english boxwood:
this seems like a helpful website:

thanks!! I hope both of ours make it through the winter!!
I just did a search and found some info on sun loving flowers:
flowers
I was thinking about planting some asters (mentioned in the article also):
they kind of look like daisies, maybe that's why I like them

Re: Flower and Plant ideas - Full sun
I did impatins in full sun in the front of our house last year and they got huge. They were like bushes. As long as you keep them well watered they will do fine.

Re: Flower and Plant ideas - Full sun
petunias are great for a lot of color in full sun... also, if you like the look of impatiens, try vinca flower ( NOT vinca vine like you see in hanging baskets). its a great full sun flower that looks a lot like impatiens, and they are very low maintenance and don't need too much water. my parents own a garden center and they have people come in and ask for vinca every year, some even come in early in the season and order them ahead of time!

Re: Flower and Plant ideas - Full sun
Portulacas do great in full sun and are drought resistant. I loved mine last year, the only bummer IMO was that they aren't in constant bloom, they last a day or two and then take a day or two for a new bloom to come out again.
ETA: Sorry, just noticed that you already got something.

I am a big fan of perennials because you don't have to plant every year. I have lavender, blazing star, snow in summer, and tiarella.
