Flower/Plant experts please come in...

Any ideas what this is. It is growing in our yard. Previous owners had sticks holding it up..Thought maybe a sunflower but I don't think so. Any ideas???

Could it be Rose of Sharon?

The buds look right but the leaves don't - usually the leaves have little points, I can't really tell if those do. They look a little wilted.

When the flowers bloom, you'll have a better time of identifying it. My Rose of Sharons are blooming right now.

I thought Rose of Sharon right away as well, but the leaf shape isn't right....

I want to say I've seen this bud before.....
