Flowers for my grandmother's funeral
My grandmother passed away on Monday and the viewing is tomorrow. My dad just told me that his sister told him that the other 5 siblings had arranged to have flowers sent to the funeral home.
My dad needs to send flowers too and I'm thinking I need to have an arrangement sent from my DH, DS and myself. I've been blessed in that I haven't been faced with many deaths and so don't really know what to do in this case. My mother is away (in another country) so I don't really have any guidance.
The viewing is all day tomorrow at a funeral home on Perry Ave in the Bronx. How do I find a florist who will deliver to the funeral home? What kind of arrangements do I even get? Can a florist do something like this same day?
I can't believe I didn't realize this before I can't let my dad be the only one who didn't send an arrangement for his mom.

I'm so sorry for your loss. I would call the funeral home to get a list of recommended local florists.

Re: Flowers for my grandmother's funeral
Call the funeral home and ask them for a neighborhood florist. There's a chance they might still be open since viewings typically end at 9:00 or 9:30.
Call the florist first thing and tell them how much you want to spend. They will help you with the order - do you want to send a basket, a spray, adding a card or one of those "Beloved.... " sashes. They should be able to deliver some time tomorrow.
I am sorry for your loss.

I dont know about local florists, Im sure if you get some phone numbers and ask they would be able to, but I do know that sites like ProFlowers deliver to funeral homes, and they have next day delivery. It is a little pricey, but they do it.

Re: Flowers for my grandmother's funeral
if your comfortable with 1800-flowers, go on their website and pick under 'sympathy'. they have a beautiful selection for funerals and they always deliver fast for that occasion. I had a few beautiful arrangements from them. Any local florist will prepare and deliver for funerals and they are used to tight deadlines for this kind of thing.

This is what I would do too. They would guide to some one who could take care of it.

I'm not sure how sending flowers works, but I did just want to say that I'm very sorry for your loss.

Re: Flowers for my grandmother's funeral
So sorry about your grandmother.
I agree with calling the funeral home and asking them for local florists they work with. Then call the florist and tell them how much you want to spend and that it is for a funeral. They'll take it from there, if you're ok with that.

Re: Flowers for my grandmother's funeral
sorry for your loss. I agree with the preivous posters about calling the funeral home. I've seen a red heart, a cross, a wreath, or just an arrangement for on top of the casquet. They can also put a "beloved ______" on the arrangement.

First of all, I am sorry for your loss.
But definitely do what evnme wrote. Funeral homes have florists that they usually deal with. Or if you call your local florist, some times they can make arrangements for you.
