Food Ideas for 1 Year Old

DS just turned one and I feel like I need more meal ideas. I feel like he doesn't get much of a variety. Can you ladies share some breakfast, lunch and dinner ideas? Also, what do you give as a snack?

Thanks so much! Chat Icon

Why not just feed the baby what you eat? Aside from allergies, I don't see why babies can't eat the same food as grownups. I think it's a great way to prevent a picky eater and makes the parents' life easier too.

I agree. DD eats the same thing that we're having for dinner every night. I also make her stuff that I find on weelicious.com. She loves the cheesy turkey meatloaf bites.

DD eats what we eat for dinner, or leftovers. Last night she had sausage, peppers, and potatoes.

Breakfast she almost always has a yogurt and fruit.

Lunch-
Oatmeal with fruit
Cheese, crackers, and fruit
Grilled cheese
Pizza
Eggs
Pastina
Soup
Turkey & cheese
Waffles/pancakes/french toast.

Dinner- Leftovers or what I'm making for us.
Sometimes I give her the Gerber Ravioli.

I don't include snack in the everyday meal plan. Sometimes I give her goldfish or dry cherrios though.

Mine is 11 months... so not so much milk/cheese in the diet yet.

IMO, we don't eat very healthy. There is a LOT of salt in our diet... so I try to keep DS's meals salt/spice free.

We do:

7 AM: baby whole grain cereal (with formula) for iron. weekends= eggs.

11: Fruits (pear, peach, banana, melon, orange, avocado: whatever is IN SEASON: no berries yet)

4PM: We still try baby food (country dinner). Usually, he eats 1 container and gets more fruit.

6-7PM: Our dinner: We could chicken, pork, beef or meatballs (ground sirloin) for him with NO SPICES. I shred it up & let him finger it into his mouth. He'll have some plain potato, turnip, ect if we make i with dinner. For dessert, he gets melon: watermelon, or whatever melon we have.

Today my DD had a mini whole grain waffle, a cheese omlette and a strawberry with a "green" drink. She also eats yogurt with fruit, oatmeal, pancakes, fuit, ceareal bars.
Lunch/dinner: Grilled cheese, mac n cheese, rice and beans, butternut squash risotto, quiche, pizza, spaghetti, meatballs, or anything we are eating.

Weelicious is a great site for inspiration.

Some of our staples:

Breakfast-
veggie & cheese omelette
pancakes
waffles
oatmeal with raisins
cereal (cheerios or kix)
french toast
mini bagel with cream cheese

Lunch is usually leftovers from the night before or-
Morningstar veggie burger
turkey & cheese roll-ups
hummus sandwich
soups (lentil, chicken noodle, vegetable)
pasta with sauteed broccoli

Re: Food Ideas for 1 Year Old

I'm making ravioli this weekend ... maybe ...

I'm going to make several kinds and freeze, stuff with veggies, meats, chickens, cheases ... thinking of combos now and going shopping...

I think i might get DS involved in making the dough or playing with it as I roll it out and cut out the squares ... should be interesting ...
