Foods for small kids at BBQ?
We are having another couple over for a BBQ and they have three small kids - 3, 2 and 6 months. I will probably make chicken kebabs and london broil for the adult, which they might eat. Is mac n cheese and hot dogs okay as well for the kids or is there anything more interesting that I could make?

DS would be fine with the steak and/or chix. The mac & cheese and hot dogs are good too. Why don't you ask the other mom?

I did ask my friend and she said not to do anything special.

Of those choices, I'd give my 2-year-old a chicken kebab.

If she said not to do anything special, then I wouldn't. DD is 12 months and eats pretty much anything. At a recent BBQ I gave her grilled chicken, pasta salad, and some tossed salad.

My 2 year old would eat the london broil and chicken kabobs. I would give him some mac and cheese but I would not give him hot dog.
I think that if the kids are picky eaters, it's the parents' responsibility to bring something for their child. It is not unreasonable for a child to eat chick kabobs or london broil, they are pretty normal foods.
ETA: Just saw that the mom said not to make anything special. Maybe they are good eaters then. I wouldn't worry.

my DD who is just 3 would eat the chicken, or a hotdog. also, if you are making a pasta salad type of thing, that would probably go over well for both adults and kids.

If she said nothing special, I wouldn't worry. My 2 1/2 year old is super picky and I always bring easy mac with me just in case!

This. She may also subscribe to the no "kid" food theory. Emmy eats mac and cheese and hotdogs for lunch, but she gets what we get for dinner. When we go out she eats from the regular menu also. Not all parents want their kids to eat only kid food KWIM. If she said don't worry I wouldn't.

I never thought of that. It sounds lke I should be covered with the chicken and pasta salad. I will still do hot dogs because my DH always likes an excuse to grill them

Usually we try to do some sort of pasta dish like mac n cheese or a ziti and you'd be surprised how many adults eat it also!

Re: Foods for small kids at BBQ?
I don't cook special foods for my 15 month old. He eats what we eat...so ask the other mom if her kids eat steak or chicken. If so, then there's no need to make extra other foods.
