For DmarieK...let's post our current sleep routines

I know all of our children are different ages but I think it might be helpful to see what routines we have all developed at this point - because most have evolved over time.

I'll start...

Lucas 16 months

Wakes at 6am

Nap (Home) 11am
Routine: 10:30 he gets a snack - applesauce or yogurt. By 10:45am he starts rubbing his eyes and we start to wind down whatever we are doing. Lower voices clean up. At 11 am we head upstairs to his room saying good bye to everything in our view along the way. We sit in the glider and read a story (low voices) while he drinks his sippy. Darken the room and put him down in the crib with his teddy bear - also turn on a white noise machine. Make sure to close the door with a slight noise so he understands we are out. He sometimes cries but we never go back unless it's a hard cry. Whimpering gets no reaction. He usually sleeps 2 hours.

Nap (Daycare) 12pm
Routine: 11:30 they have lunch. The teachers close the lights and tuck everyone in their cots. Lucas has a doggy that is only taken out for naps. He cuddles up and the teacher rubs his back a bit. He usually sleep anywhere from 1 to 1.5 hours.

Bedtime (7:30pm)
Lucas gets a small snack when we get home and then we get the bath ready. All of his after bath items (pjs and diaper) are already lined up. He takes his bath, plays for about 10 minutes and then I dry him up, dress him and we say good-night to everything in our path (the sofa, the tv etc) and head upstairs. We read two books and I hold him while we darken the room. He gets and gives a hug and then into the crib he goes with his teddy bear and blanket. Very rarely cries - I say good night, tell him I love him and close the door so he knows I am gone. He sleeps from 7:30 - 6:00 am on weekdays and 7:30 - 7am on weekends.

Katelyn almost 16 months

Wakes at 7:30-8am

Nap (Home) 11am
Give her a snack, bring her upstairs, close the blinds, put her music on, give her her stuffed dog and lay her down in her crib. She's usually out within 5 minutes. She usually sleeps 1.5-2 hours

Nap (Home) 4pm or so
As soon as I see her getting a little cranky, I birng her upstairs with the same routine as the morning nap. Usually she plays for 15 minutes or so in her crib, then gets whiny for 15 minutes and then puts herself out. My rule is if after an hour she's not sleeping, I take her out of the crib. 9 times out of 10 she falls asleep. She usually sleeps for 1-1.5 hours

Bedtime (8pm)
Bath, lotion, pajamas, kiss Daddy good night, a cup of milk, and one or 2 stories. I lay her down in her crib with her blankie and dog with her music on. Giver her a kiss. She's usually out within 5-10 minutes.

Re: For DmarieK...let's post our current sleep routines

DS 18 months

Nap (home) - 12pm
He has lunch at 11:30. We get cleaned up. We go in his room and read a couple books. Goes down for a nap with a stuffed toy and I usually put on the FP aquarium. Most often he creis for a minute. Sometimes he doesn't. I only go back in if it's hard core screaming, which only happens when he's sick. Sleeps from 2-3.5 hours.

Nap (daycare) - 12pm
He has lunch at 11:30 and they clean up. They darkent he room and he goes in his cot with his blanket (no animal or noise here). Teacher sometimes rubs his back. They say he never cries. Sleeps 2-3 hours.

Bedtime - 8:30pm
He's already has dinner, a bath and his sippy. We then get into pjs and then snuggle on the recliner and watch backyardigans at 8pm. Then we go brush his teeth and then in his room we read 4-5 books. Then he goes down with a blanket and animal and the FP "fishies" on. He usually cries for a minute. I don't go back unless it's hard core screaming, which is usually only when he's sick. I don't go in during the night unless it's hard core screaming for a couple minutes, because that's unusual. He sleeps 8:30pm-7am.

Re: For DmarieK...let's post our current sleep routines

Kristina - 8 months old

Wakes 8:30 am

Has 8oz bottle and plays for 2 (+/-) hours.

Around 10 am, starts rubbing her eyes, maybe a yawn or 2. I leave her sitting on the floor, playing with her toys, and go downstairs and make her a 5oz bottle. Bring her into her room, turn on the CD player (soundscapes which play for 90 minutes) lay her down in her crib and hand her her bottle. Cover her with her blanket, tell her I love her and goodnight quietly, send her an air kiss, and walk out of the room closing the door behind me.

She sleeps for about 2-3 hours.

Dinner is at 5-5:30. She has a 4oz cup of meat w/pasta or rice, and a 4oz cup of veg. After that she gets to hang out with us in her highchair while we have dinner, then at 6:30 I bring her upstairs, and change her diaper, and give her a 7oz bottle... bring her into her room, and once again, turn on her CD player, turn on her mobile, lay her down, cover her with her blanket, tell her i love her and goodnight softly, and walk out of the room.

Samantha - 6 months (on 10/18)

Wake up: 7am
2 tbsp of oatmeal cereal mixed with fruit (bananas, applesauce, etc.). 7-8 ounces of formula. Plays until around 10am, starts rubbing her eyes, I put her in her crib and she naps until around 11 or so. She has lunch, usually vegetables or fruit and topped off with a bottle (usually 5-7 ounces). We play again or go for walk. Falls asleep around 1 and sleeps for 2 hours.

Usually up around 3, play some more and eats around 4pm. Usually vegetables or fruit and topped off with a bottle (usually 5-7 ounces). Sometimes will doze off again around 6pm for an hour. I give her a bath and then feed her another 2 tbsp of oatmeal mixed with fruit and then I give her one last bottle around 7 or 8 where she drinks 7-8 ounces before falling asleep around 8pm.

Matthew 10 months

6:30-7:00--wakes up; has a bottle and breakfast about an hour later

11:00-11:30--takes his nap; not a big routine before this one. He gets another bottle, we read a book or two or sing some songs, then I put him in his crib with his stuffed animals. This is the only nap of the day, so I try to make sure we're home for this one. He sleeps 1-2 hours.

Ahhh---long awake stretch!

6:00--dinner, followed by some quiet playtime, usually in his room. Every other day he has a bath. Then he has his last bottle around 7-7:30 pm, we put on his PJs, read him a book or two, put on his sound machine, and he sleeps until the next morning.

Re: For DmarieK...let's post our current sleep routines

Kaydyn is 8 1/2 months

10am -- wakes up and gets a 4oz bottle
11am -- gets cereal and fruit
11:30am -- generally sleeps for about an hour (she throws fits during the day and will not sleep in her crib...we have left her in there for almost an hour and she screams the entire time) so usually DH holds her
5pm -- takes another hour nap
9:30pm -- we start out sleep routine. She gets a bath and I let her splash around in there for about a half hour b/c she loves it. I put her diaper on and put lotion on. We then hang up our towels, turn on the fan, put the mobile on and then DH takes her into our room to put on her pjs. I make her a bottle and we turn off almost all the lights and DH feeds her a bottle. When the bottle is done she goes into the crib, asleep or awake. If she is awake she generally cries for about 10 mins and then falls asleep (usually sitting up with her head on the bumper). She wakes several times a night, but our rule is unless she is screaming we give her 20 mins. Most times she is right back to sleep within a min or two.

Kaydyn has a very late schedule but only b/c DH is not working right now. Once he goes back to work we will work on putting her in earlier b/c I will be bringing her to my ILs at 8am.

Re: For DmarieK...let's post our current sleep routines

DD is 7 1/2 months.

Wakes up anywhere from 7-8:30.

8-8:30 - breakfast and 5 oz bottle

10-10:30 - goes down for her first nap. Usually it's only a 1/2 hour. Anything over that I consider myself very lucky.

11:30-12 - lunch with 5 oz bottle

1:00/1:30 - another 1/2 hour to an hour nap

3:00 - 4 oz bottle and maybe some puffs

4-5 - another 1/2 hour nap

5:30 - dinner

Every other day she gets a bath around 7. Then its a bottle, book and bed. She's usually down by 7:30-8.

My dd isn't the best napper and I usually have to lay down with her on my bed to have her go to sleep. She will scream like I am murdering her if I put her in her crib. It's a small price to pay though because she goes down at night (in her crib) with no problems and sleeps for about 12 hours Chat Icon

Re: For DmarieK...let's post our current sleep routines

This is for non-daycare days. DD is 7 months.

7am wake up, bottle, cereal
~9am Nap for about 1-2 hrs. I pay attention to sleepy signs (yawn, rub eyes) I a modified version of her bedtime routine. She is usually still in her pjs so I just rock her for a few minutes with her lullabye cd and give her the pacifier and puppy blanket (those small ones with the animal head). I always put her in the crib awake.

11am Bottle
12pm Lunch

~1 or 2 pm Nap. same routine as above

3pm Bottle
5pm Dinner
6:30 Begin bedtime routine. Bath, pjs, bottle, book, rock, bed

Re: For DmarieK...let's post our current sleep routines

Benjamin is 15 mos.

Wakes up between 6:45 and 7:30AM.

When he's home, he'll nap between 10:30 and 11AM for 60-90 mins. He usually starts rubbing his eyes and we'll ask him if he wants to take a nap. He'll usually say "yeah yeah" and we'll go down the hall to his room, close the blinds, but the fan and his Glow-worm on. He'll usually play for a few minutes but will go to sleep on his own. It's rare that he cries for his morning nap.

At dayare, he'll nap after lunch (11:30 or 12PM) for 50-90 mins.

He has been taking a late afternoon nap from 3:30 or 4:30 for 1-2 hrs. However I think he's starting to move away from wanting to take this nap as it's becoming increasingly difficult to get him to go down.

Bedtime is between 8:30 and 9PM. He'll take a bath before dinner so we can all eat together when DH gets home from work between 7 and 7:30. At about 8:15, we'll start cleaning up the toys, read a story or two (or 3!) and then all go down the hall to Ben's room. We make a stop in the bathroom to brush Ben's teeth. DH will change his diaper, we'll dim the lights and tuck him into bed with his bear, tiger and Glow-worm. He will usually play for a bit, sing to himself and then drift off to sleep.

Re: For DmarieK...let's post our current sleep routines

Wake up at 7am (give or take 15 mins)

Bottle at 7:30, then playtime.

Nap around 9am, sometimes a little earlier. She gets tired. I put her in her crib and turn on the sound machine.
She usually sleeps about 2 hrs.

Wakes at 11, bottle and more playing.

Once she is tired again, usually around 1, I put her in the crib with the sound machine. She almost always sleeps 3 hours in the afternoon.

Around 6:30 we start the bedtime routine of bath, quiet playtime and she has her bottle and is usually in bed by 7:30 til the next morning.

Re: For DmarieK...let's post our current sleep routines

Not sure if this will help much.

I'm not very structured with naps. When she's home I try to force her to take 2 naps. The morning nap is usually no problem. The afternoon one is sometimes a challenge. She usually takes 2 naps at daycare, but sometimes she resists.

DD will be 12 months next week.

She gets up between 7-7:30am. She gets a bottle right away (and then every 4 hours)and then eats breakfast around 9am.

Nap - anytime between 10:30 and 12:30 - sometimes she'll sleep 30 minutes, other days 2 hours. Total crap shoot.

Lunch at 1pm

Snack at 3pm

When she takes an afternoon nap, it's around 4pm or so.

She eats dinner between 6 and 7pm and she goes to bed every night at 8pm. We bathe her every other night.

Re: For DmarieK...let's post our current sleep routines

DS is almost 10 m onths.

He is up for hte day around 7am, has a 6oz bottle.

At 9:30 he gets whiny, rubs his eyes alot and has a very short temper. So I got into his room, change his diaper if need be, turn on the sound machine, close the blinds, cradle and rock him, once his eyes close I sit in his glider with him for 3-5 minutes put him in the crib and thats that.

Same goes for a nap around 3:30/4pm
The only variation when ILs have him is that they put on the vacuum while hte rock him, and he is usually asleep in about 2 minutes flat.

Bedtime.
Dinner is at 7ish
Play for a bit
Bottle is at 8
Bed at 9ish - same routine as far as going to sleep, rock/walk, then sit in the glider.

Bathtime is before dinner on bath days. If I dont work on a bath day, then I try to do bath before DH gets home so its done.
