For moms of 1+ yr olds (xmas tree related)
How do you plan to keep your child from pulling at it???
I think we are going to go fake this year because I just cant have the pine needles all over the floor with Ryan walking all around...
But Im still concerned about him pulling/pushing the tree over, and the ornaments and stuff...

Last year I had it so easy- I had everything wrapped and under the tree by the 1st week of Dec.
This year it looks like Ill be doing all my wrapping on xmas eve--
OR the present will be hiding wrapped in my closet

I'm still going to get a real one, but I think I'm going to try to anchor it to the wall at the top with some twine if that's possible. Also, the breakable stuff will stay in the boxes this year!

We have a gate around our tv (the play yard thing) so we will just extend it to the tree. I juts said recently how I definately won't be putting HALF my stuff out this year!

Re: For moms of 1+ yr olds (xmas tree related)
Last year, Kevin was 10 months and a crawling, climbing bandit - so we put our super playyard around the tree..worked well for us. THis year - we may do the same but he may be old enough (22 mos) where I can tell him no and he'll understand - but the playyard will be a lot easier for some protection.

Re: For moms of 1+ yr olds (xmas tree related)
Megan is only 10 weeks old, but next year, I plan on doing nothing different at all. My mom ALWAYS had a real tree with tons of ornaments all over it, including the bottom. I believe that if you tell them over and over not to touch the tree and to stay away from it, they will listen. Myself, my sister and brother knew NEVER to touch the tree and always did the same thing year after year.

I always have a fake tree but no clue how we are going to protect it. I will have to put all my little nick-nacks up high this year. Last year she was only 3 months so it didn't matter.

Re: For moms of 1+ yr olds (xmas tree related)
Gianna isn't quite 1 yet, but she will be mobile come Xmas. I don't plan on changing a thing but putting the breakable ornaments up high and making sure it's secure. We will not put anything around it.
There's nothing that can subsitute teaching your child that something is off limits.
But that's just me
