For the Jewish Mom to be's......
How did you "announce" where you were registered? I mean, most of us aren't having baby showers and I was wondering how you go about receiving gifts.
TIA

I didn't register (I'm 27wks & lazy)- try word of mouth- tell your mom &MIL, if they're like my mom, then the whole world will know. And mention it to some friends.

Re: For the Jewish Mom to be's......
Not PG yet, but DH and I fall under a category of "very supersitious" when it comes to things like this and have discussed certain aspects of pregnancy at length. I am sure we will register at some point, but probably not until well into the second trimester and at no time will anything baby related be brought into our home. We have our reasons.
We both have a lot of non-Jewish friends. Some are familiar with our customs and beliefs and for those who are not and decide to give to us beforehand, their gifts will be stored elsewhere. Nowadays, people ask if you are registered (Jewish or not) and at that point, you can tell them where.
Our families will not be giving us a shower when the time comes. We know this. Yet the children in our families who have been born already never did without a thing. Im pretty sure they didnt have baby registries when my older nieces and nephew were born. The grandparents bought the furniture and bedding and siblings bought the layette. At the time of baby namings/bris, people just bought a lot of clothing and toys. Odds are, this will be the situation for us as well.

Re: For the Jewish Mom to be's......
I am Jewish and we recently had my son's bris. I did not have a shower. My friends all found my registry at BBB. I assume they looked online before heading to stores. Our parents' friends and our relatives all asked our parents where we were registered. Not everyone bought registry gifts but many people did. People were extremely generous for the bris and I am still sorting through all the gifts. I think that if I had just had a shower the bris gifts might have been smaller.

We had the exact same experience for our DS except we registered at BBB for him. A lot of people asked us why we did not chose BRU, and if I had to do it again I would have purchased the stuff I wanted at BBB and just registered at BRU since it is a lot more convenient for everyone.
