? for the mom's with kids with food allergies....
So Emma's bloodwork came back as a severe allergy to milk, egg, peanuts (& all tree nuts) and with a mild to moderate allergy to wheat and rice.
My question - Does your DC carry a Medi Alert bracelet (or necklace) - and if they do, which one did you get?
Also - Did you list all the allergies, or just the severe ones...

Hi, I just saw your post. My daughter Ava is 2. She is peanut allergic. We carry an Epi-pen and she does have a bracelet. She doesn't wear it much, because she is usually with me.
It is very scary. Just be sure that you have a good Allergist that can answer all of your questions. Their are a ton of websites that can help you also. The best is the Food Allergy Network.
Just be sure to read all labels and watch for cross contamination.
You will get through it- it is just an adjustment. If you have any questions, you can fm me.

Thank you for your response!
We have an excellent allergist. They referred me to the Food Allergy Network so that I could do some research before my appt with them this Friday to talk about food, and the Epi Pen.
DD has more than 1 severe allergy so I'm not sure if I should list them all on the bracelet?

Hi, Yes, even though the bracelets are small, you can fit a lot more than you think on them. You may also want to buy a few pins or tee-shirts for your daughter for when you go to bbq's and parties. There are really cute ones that say- "please don't feed me- I have severe food allergies". Good Luck. Please let me know if you need anything or have any questions.

I would have a list with you. I Know that is Sammy's pre -school no peanuts are allowed. It is a peanut free school because it is such a bad allergy for some kids.

Re: ? for the mom's with kids with food allergies....
My nephew is 12 and has had life threatening food allergies since he was born-He always has an epi pen with him and any adult that is with him has one and knows how to use it. In school now they are very sensitive to food allergies so usually there is no peanut allowed anywhere like the bus, etc. He does not have a bracelet but he doesn't eat anything. Since you have a baby I would probably get her a bracelet and tell EVERYONE you know about her allergies so no one offers her a cookie or anything. He is doing great and has grown out of some of his allergies(he can have chicken, certain seafood, etc. M SIL's alllergist told her it is rare that they grow out of the peanut allergy but the others are quite common. GL!

Yeah - The allergist said the peanut allergy is for life. And that the other's she may grow out of, or that other's may appear. Thanks for the info!
