For those going on Disney Cruise in June- question
What is the dinner attire for the Disney Magic for the kids?
Do the boys have to wear pants every night? According to website, mani jeans, shorts, flip flops allowed...
Do you have to wr tuxedo or suit for the formal nighs...
Starting to see what we will be bringing in terms of clothes...
Any info would be great..

Re: For those going on Disney Cruise in June- question
It is a formal night for the first at sea night, a semi formal night the last at sea night, cruise casual the others....jeans are OK, but DCL says no shorts, tank tops, or bathing suits. Apparently, many people still wear shorts and this upsets many guests. I wouldn't mind a child wearing neat khaki shorts and a polo shirt. I would imagine, like other cruise lines, the dining rooms and theaters are very cold! ETA: for formal night many will wear a suit, some will wear a tux, and other will wear either a sport jacket without tie or shirt with tie, no jacket. DCL doesn't turn you away from the dining rooms based on attire, but they will from Palo.

Re: For those going on Disney Cruise in June- question
Dress up nights on Disney Cruises are optional. I choose 2nd dinner seating so there are fewer kids, but I would think shorts for kids would be ok. As PP said, it's only Remy and Palo where they really enforce it. I wore a dress to dinner every night (ranging from casual to fancier) and DH did wear jeans, khakis or slacks, so I would stick with that.
it is FREEZING in the theatres and some restaurants. Definitely bring sweaters for all.
Let me know if you have any questions. Are you sailing out of NY? You're going to have the BEST time!!! We can't stop talking about our Disney Cruise and we can't wait to go on another one. We will definitely do at least one next year.
ETA: There were VERY few people in suits and NO ONE in a tuxedo for formal nights. I wore a cocktail dress and DH work slacks and a button down shirt. We saw a few ladies in long gowns, but it was really mixed. I would say about half of the people didn't get dressed up at all.

Dress up nights are optional on cruises less than 7 days. The NY 8 night has a formal night and semi formal, but it isn't stated as optional. I know it is optional on the Dream.

Interesting. I will have to check that out.
I still have not heard of anyone being turned away for attire except at Remy/Palo.
Cruise lines vary greatly in how much they enforce the dress up nights.

Re: For those going on Disney Cruise in June- question
We just came back from the Fantasy in the beginning of the month. I have to say I was worrying for months about what to wear, what to dress the kids in but honestly it was one of the most casual cruises I was ever on. As long as you are neat and not wearing short shorts you will be fine. The formal nights really weren't even that formal. It is what you make it. If you want to dress in a tux and gown then do it. If you want to wear a nice polo and pants do that too.
If you have DDs, almost all the girls were dressed up in some sort of costume throughout the week. Some girls wore princess dresses every night. Pirate night was another fun night. A ton of people dressed up as pirates or had on pirate shirts.
Have fun. You'll have a blast!!!

Re: For those going on Disney Cruise in June- question
I'm happy to hear nothing is really formal. I find it SO stupid when people are on a cruise drinking cheap mixed drinks all day and gorging on pasta buffets and farting all over the place but then dress up at night like they're Mr. and Mrs. Howell and take glamour shots in front of a backdrop of a fancy staircase.

Some people do dress up, but because of the family vibe, it's not the same as you'd see on one of the more traditional cruise lines.

Just got back from the disney cruise it was great! we were actually the first trip!!
they are very relaxed my daughter wore a lot of her princess dresses. Boys were dressed in shorts or pants. there was a pirate night so if you have anything pirate bring it.
formal nights are very relaxed you don"t have to dress formally the most dressed men were was a suit.

Re: For those going on Disney Cruise in June- question
Disney cruise formal nights are not like most cruise lines' formal nights, even for the Mediterranean sailings. You'll see suits and nice dresses and pantsuits for adults, lots of princess dresses for girls of all ages, and dress pants for boys.
Nice walking shorts on boys for non-formal nights are not frowned on either.
We love pirate night! It's such a fun theme and even if you don't dress up, you still get a bandana to get in the spirit.
