You survived. You broke the cycle. You learned and you are a better mother for it!

Enjoy your children.


For me this time of year is always an awe of AJ but also a "F - U" to my own mother. May she burn slowly in hell, but at least I can say. I love my daughter all the more because I would never let AJ grow up the way I did. I will show her love and god help me I will never repeat the vile inhumane acts my mother did to me.

So here's to you moms. The ones who may never thought they'd make good moms because of their own mothers. The ones who may second guess every bad day as a sign of their own mother coming through.

Look at your happy child. YOU are doing a wonderful job! They cry, the drive us crazy but we still love them .. and even if they aren't even speaking to us due to age or defiance .. we still know that they will always know.. we love them.

so true for a lot of people.

my mom is great; but her youngest sister is a drug addict and had 5 kids all whom were raised in foster care at some point (the last one was adopted out at birth). and the cycle continues with her kids (whose in jail, who has 3 kids with different daddies, etc.)

at least you broke the cycle in your family.

Thanks for this!! I do need to focus on the fact that I work every day to break the cycle and while I am far from a perfect mom I do all I can to try to do better than what I was shown!

I see all these great lovie posts on here about their love for their moms. I hope one day AJ feels the same about me. I know she won't feel as I do for mine and that's victory enough for me.

Didn't mean to make anyone sad, but if you're in the same mind set as I am. Mother's day is hard.

Its enough to drive someone crazy. Its worse than being single on Valentine's day!

I see mother's day a bit differently. It marks another year of change. Its sort of like being AA but never having a drink. Just knowing tho, you could be an alcoholic is bad enough - kinda thing. I don't care about fancy dinners, pretty cards, necklaces, breakfast in bed or if my hubby leaves me alone with my kid in a hot mess. I just want to know...

Did I make it through the year? Did I change her life for the better?

Am I not her.


So far.. so good

but to those who don't have this struggle or burden shall we say, I envy you! haha

For those of us who do, Kudos man.. you made it another year!

Thanks for the post. Agreed, there are some of us who dont have a decent relationship with their mother. It really is a day about me and MY daughter and DH. Happy Mothers Day to you!
