For those of you that are pregnant with your 2nd or 3rd etc (touchy question)
Did you have any losses when trying for the next baby and did you suffer any losses when trying for the first... Sorry for the awful question, but I'm a worrier by nature and I just can't help but freak out about every little thing..DH says I'm worse this time around than last..his mother who is a nurse said that she read somewhere that the 2nd, 3rd etc time around it's less likely to suffer loses , but I don't believe her that much

Re: For those of you that are pregnant with your 2nd or 3rd etc (touchy question)
I had two losses before Abby and one loss before Zippy.
I don't know how old you are, but at my age (39 at conception, 40 at delivery), the odds of having a loss skyrocketed. As you get older, your egg quality decreases and chances for loss increase. For me, I saw the correlation between age and chromosomal issues. My loss before Zippy, was in fact a chromosomal issue - Trisomy 16.
I also believe that my second loss before Abby was ALSO chromosomal despite the fact that people insisted I had immune issues. We never found out why, because the loss happened on its own and there was no pathology. I had also been told long before Abby that 1 in 4 pregnancies end in miscarriage regardless of age.

I had 2 losses before Samantha. I also lost her twin as well as the twin I was carrying with this pregnancy. However, i believe those losses were due to my ageas well as my fertility issues.
Its hard not to worry!

Re: For those of you that are pregnant with your 2nd or 3rd etc (touchy question)
I try to think positive but I was/am much more concerned with something happening in my 2nd and now my 3rd pregnancy. All went well with #2. #3 took awhile for us to conceive but I am getting close to 12 weeks now and so far so good. DH gets annoyed - I won't talk names or any of the fun stuff - I am so scared of jinx-ing things or the upset of something going wrong - sometimes I wonder how I am so lucky and expectthe bad which isn't totally my personality so it is weird to us. I think I will have much more relief after the 12 week sono. I am in my late 30's and members in my family have had miscarriage or some kind of loss so it gets me so nervous.

I'm pg with #2. No losses yet before either. And both were "happy surprises". We didn't TTC it just happened so I'm not much help. But I'm crossing my fingers that everything will be just fine with you!

I am so much worse with this pregnancy than my first. With my first I think I didnt know any better. I worried but not too much.
THis one seems impossible and I Have only know a few days. Every pain I am nervous etc. My good friend had a m/c (trying for #2) the day I got my BFP, which just adds to my worry.

I had a MC last year, pg #2. We are just back on the TTC bandwagon...so I'm keeping my fingers crossed for a BFP soon that sticks!

I had one loss before my DC. This time, no losses. I am almost 12 weeks now. I still worry all the time, but feel a little safer now that I am almost into the second trimester. But I won't stop worrying until this little one is in my arms, and even then, as we know, the worrying never stops!

No on both counts.
My advise is to keep optimistic until you have something to worry about. That's the only way not to drive yourself crazy with worry!
Good luck!

Re: For those of you that are pregnant with your 2nd or 3rd etc (touchy question)
I've never had a loss.
My mom had 2 losses, both after me. My close friend just had 1 after her first.
From what I've read, heard from people who have gone through it, the losses that are most often due to chromosomal abornormalities are completely random and aren't more or less likely depending on what number pregnancy it is for you.
There are some losses related to your ability to carry--like some hormonal issues related to your uterus building up a sufficient lining. I think for these types, once you've had a normal pregnancy, they may be less likely (or it may be indicative that you are not prone to these types of loses.)
For me, with my second pregnancy, I really thought I was losing the baby. I bled with my second and never had a drop of blood with my first. I bled for about 1-2 weeks with my second (it was my first clue that I was PG) I think my estrogen levels were low and I was put on hormones for that--but some docs said the added hormones weren't going to make a difference and I would either miscarry or not either way. They never figured out why I was bleeding, but I thought it was because I was still BFing and my hormones were out of wack. As soon as I get my BFP I called and said I was bleeding and they had me come in to test my beta and estrogen levels every few days. My beta numbers were great and kept rising appropriately, so that was very comforting. I went for a heartbeat check a little over 6 weeks, and then had my first OB appointment at 8 weeks.

I am very newly pregnant with #2.
I had no losses before DC#1. And I am hoping this one sticks. But I know how you are feeling. I almost wish I could just fast forward the next 8 weeks and get into my 2nd trimester already.

Thanks for that...
I had some spotting (brown) the day AF was supposed to arrive and honestly this is feeling a lot different than what I remember feeling with DD, so thats why I'm freaking a bit..but when I called my OB they actually said everything I was mentioning was normal...I don't get to see them until I'm 8 weeks which sucks..but what am I going to do...
