For those of you who weaned off pumping...

how did you go about doing it? Did you take away one pumping every 3 days?? TIA

I pumped after every feeding, and once a day while I worked part time. At first I elliminated all pumping. I definitely got engorged for a while. Once that settled down I started elliminating one feeding a week. Now at almost 5 months, Luva gets his wake up feeding from me, then a bottle, then the boob and formula for the rest of the day. I'm going to start cutting back to just the wake up feeding.

I don't know if I did it every 3 days or not, but I went from pumping every 6 hours to every 8 then every 12 then once a day then like every 36 hours then done. I had no engorgement or problems.

I used to pump 8 times a day, then after 2 days I pumped 6, then after 2 I pumped 4, then after 2 I pumped 2 etc. Then about a week after I thought I was done I had to pump one last night and that was it. the process took for a couple of weeks. Good luck. Use ice packs to help the pain.

I extended the number of hours b/w pumps and cut down on the duration of the pumping sessions as well.
