For those of you whose babies sleep sitting up or in the swing....
how and when do I get him used to sleeping laying down (like in his crib)??? Or even without the movement of the swing???
Or should I just shut up and be grateful that he sleeps at all right now???

DD slept in her swing until she was 4 1/2 months and continued to nap in the swing until 7 months. At 4 1/2 months we did the CIO method and after a couple of nights she loved her crib. She is almost 14 months old.

DD slept in the swing until about 8 months. I beat myself up about it at the time, but wish I had just gone with it. By the time she could sleep on her belly well, transferring her to the crib wasn't as hard. We did CIO. It was tough.

What swiong do you have? We have the Papasan and the cradle part is al;most flat, its maybe a 30 degree angle so I feel liek hes laying flat already. Guess it depends on the swing?

DS slept in his cradle, only after I propped up one side on an incline. We kept him like that for five months when we moved him to his crib. He would have slept flat though, probably around 3 or 4 months.

Forgot to add-
We got him used to it by placing him flat for naps once his belly was feeling better, probably around 3 months give or take.

Re: For those of you whose babies sleep sitting up or in the swing....
Sometimes I put him in the swing and I don't even have to turn it on. Other times, I turn it on for just a bit while he's falling asleep and then turn it off. He will occassionally sleep in the crib for a nap. He will be 4 months next week and we're thinking we're gonna try to make the switch permanent, even if it means CIO.
PS, we also have the papasan and he's pretty flat in it.

Re: For those of you whose babies sleep sitting up or in the swing....
If it werent for our swing, we would never get any sleep at all. I tried to avoid him sleeping in the swing at night, but sleep deprivation brought me around, and I have to say, on the nights he sleeps thru the night is a blessing. even now, going thru teething and waking up every 2 hrs, the swing helps soothe him and put him back down. He will not sleep at all in daycare and I think its because he will only sleep in the swing.
we have no AC upstairs, but in the fall I am planning on starting him on the crib when the upstairs gets cooler. We'll see what happens. I'm sure i'll be on here w/ a lot of CIO questions....

Ella slept in the swing and her car set for the first 2 months. Then I bought her the miracle blanket and laid her down in the PNP and she did great. We just started putting her in her crib and she will be 4 months on the 17th.
