For those of you working & looking for new job
How do you go on interviews if you can't take the time off from work?
It's so aggrivating when you like the people you work with and you don't want to leave them short handed but when you are at the point where A) there is no future in your job what so ever, and B) Your sick of being spoken to like a 2 year old when your boss decides to have their bout of Bi-Polar disorder. Then you get cranky just being there. My job is fine when this person is not in but grrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrr!

Re: For those of you working & looking for new job
I try to schedule my interviews as early in the morning as possible and call with some excuse about why I am going to be late. On Monday, "I had to take my DH to the doctor b/c he was sick and we only have one car." The problem is that now I've been stuck talking to everyone about his "bronchitis" and how I made him chicken soup
I hate lying and I'm lousy at it, so this is never easy for me, but you gotta do what you gotta do!

I hate ling too but you are right, you have to do what you have to do. But the fact that you got stuck talking about it, that really stinks. I hate lying too. But i would never lie to the 2 girls i work closely with. I guess a little white lir is necessary now and then. THanks for the advice

same -- i go early or after work, though i'm surprised that so many people are not understanding about why i need to do that. when i'm running late in the a.m. i just call my boss and tell her that my train was delayed (a benefit to the LIRR!)

Re: For those of you working & looking for new job
I went through this for the past 2 years before I found my job now...I obv. didnt want to call in sick a lot etc so I scheduled early mornings (like 7am ) if the person was open to it...lunch time (although I had to cram it in) and after work (which was the best - no rushing). If I felt like it was really worth it I would take a day - I did that for my job now and it was well worth it! Good luck!

This is a long-shot but do you have any vacation time?
When I knew I needed to leave my last job, I just took a week off and booked a ton of interviews during that time.
Granted, that doesn't always work----I was lucky that I had a lot of contacts who I knew were hiring that were able to schedule me that way.
