Can you please tell me what made you switch (how was your child reacting to the formula) and what formula did you switch to?

My DS is 3 weeks old and has been fine with this formula since birth. However, the past several days he has had a lot of gas. Waking up alone from a nap he probably passes gas at least 6 times. During feedings and after feedings he will be pretty fussy. Once I calm him down and put him to sleep he will give me 3 hours and is fine. Night time feedings are wonderful he doesn't act fussy at all it's only during the day.

Now, everyone I talk to is saying that it's the formula I use and that I should switch to something else. I'm not quite sure it is the formula. How do I know for sure? Maybe he's just fussy?

Switched to Nestle Good Start RTF (well after trying a few others) because of the gas, constipation, reflux, etc.. Was the best thing, he was a new baby after that!! Oh and he didn't start having problems until 3-4 weeks.

We switched to Similac Sensitive at around 6 wks and it was like we had a completely different baby within a day or so of switching. It was amazing.

We had major reflux issues and tried every formula under the sun including Soy formulas. Finally used Good Start regular and no problems since!

We switched to the Gentle and it worked!!! DS was colic and it took about a week to kick in. But when it did - it was quite a difference!!

Went straight to Nestle Goodstart. My pediatrician actually told me to switch when I got home because since the nursery switched to SA she saw a major change in spitup and fussiness. She was not happy with the new formulation.

We switched to Similac sensitive R.S. due to my DD's reflux. We tried almost all of the other forumlas and that one just seemed to work the best.

DD suffered with gas for about 7 weeks. We then switched to Similac Sensitive and she was a different child. Still on it, doing well at 9 mths.

When DS was born at the end of April, I BF and supplemented with formula. First he was on Similac Advance and was fine with it for a few days. Then he started getting terrible gas to the point where he was screaming. His ped recommended we try Enfamil Gentlease and then Good Start Gentle. Same thing happened so he was then switched to Similar Isomil (soy formula) and he's been fine ever since. He still gets gas from time to time but not to the point where he's screaming in agony.

You'll find what works best for your little one. Hang in there. Chat Icon

Ugh...we are having problems with the Similac Sensitive. We are on our way to the pediatrician this morning, but I am curious what other formulas are out there that she is going to put him on. It's just killing me to see my 3 week old in such pain!!

I feel like I'm the only one whose baby does really well on the Similac Advance.
Around the same time as you my DD seemed to be gassy - not fussy, but would pass gas. I decided to give Similac Sensitive a try to see if it helped but after she threw up (not spit up, but literally projectile vomited) the entire bottle on two separate occassions, I decided to go back to Similac Advance. She has been great on it.

Kaydyn was having problems almost immediately after coming home with gas. We kept using Similac Advance for about 2 weeks when we couldn't take her in so much pain anymore, so we tried a sample of Similac Soy that we had. She did better on it, but the formula would literally go right through her and she was hungry an hour later.

So one night at almost midnight we went to a 24 hour Walgreens and bought Similac Sensitive...she was a different baby almost immediately and we had no problems from that point on.

My first DS (now 2) was on Similac Advance since birth (I always had to supplement) and did awesome with it when all other formula's didn't work for him. I'm hoping we can switch DS#2 to it eventually. I guess it just depends upon the baby's digestive system.

At 2 weeks, DD became very gassy and strained a lot when she pooped. One day I found traces of blood in her diaper. I took her right to the ped and was switched to Gentelease. She had torn when she was trying to poop. The formula was constipating her too much.
