For those that moved to a new area, how did you find a new hair salon

We moved oos and even though DH stills gets his haircut at the same place (right by my moms) I want a place close to our house. I thought about asking someone I saw with a great cut where they go but I haven't seen any Chat Icon . Their are a few places around me and I am just nervous. Plus I want a change with my hair including color.

hmmmm....maybe google the salons in your area? Maybe there's a forum like this out there and someone has written something...

Or, like you said, ask someone with a great cut, or someone at work.

The forum thing is a good idea. The only co-workers I have is a 16 month old and a 1 month old Chat Icon , both have very little hair.

I did this when I moved. I asked someone at work who had a great cut and color who she went to. I also asked neighbors.

It was a little uncomfortable when a neighbor recommended me to someone though and I didn't like the way my hair came out at all!

Also, you might want to go to the makeup counters in your local mall. I feel like those girls always have nice hair. Test out a few products, then ask them who does their hair!

Good luck! I have been there!

I tried out tons of places before I found a place I love. I found the places by google and just seeing what is there as I drove around.
This can be risky though!

Someone approached me in Quiznos one day (a man) asking where I get my hair cut, because him and his wife were new to the area and she needed a good place. he said I have beautiful hair so that is why he asked me. It was a bit awkward for me Chat Icon

Since I moved to VA I have been to 3 places. This girl did a good job & I like her so I will go back. I liked the color that a co-worker had so I asked her for her #.

I scoped out a few places that looked like good salons, then I scheduled a consultation and blow out. I figured the consultation is free and the blowout is a a fairly inexpensive way to get a feel for how they do hair. Also don't feel strange to try multiple stylists in a salon until you find the right person.

In the end, I wound up using a girl who does my friend's hair. But I still asked around and tested out some other girls/salons.

When we first moved into our apartment I was desperate for a haircut and just walked into the town and into a salon. I got really lucky because I found an amazing stylist.

Now that we're moving, I'm going to have to continue driving here because I won't go to anyone else.

I am having the same problem. I googled spas and salons on the area. Some had some ratings. I was thinking of peeking my head in. If I like what they were doing then I was thinking of booking them.

I just walked into a salon in the town where I lived and found a real gem. I'm moving again but plan to travel to her because she's that good.
