Re: For those that redid your bathrooms and DIY
if you are making any changes to plumbing or electrical like moving, installing new shower/ tub body or updating or changing in any way. then framing if any-like new window, recessed medicine cabinet, straightening walls for tile if needed. Biggest tip for demo DIY style- make sure after you remove the toilet you stuff a large rag in the toilet drain pipe so no big pieces of debris get stuck in there.

Re: For those that redid your bathrooms and DIY
Thank you!!!
Bumping for anyone that has pics of remodling before and after pics too.
Kelly I found old before and after pics of yours did your DH use the green sheetrock in the shower area? It didnt look like it. thanks again.
Yes we will be gutting out taking out all old fixtures, not adding any shelving or medicine cabinet- the bathroom allready has a wall closet. def need plumbing and electric but wanted to know what we have to do first after gutting, sounds like
1. fix any studs if they need to be replaced
2. electrical
3. plumbing
4. tub and make sure level
5. sheetrock
6. spackle and tape
7. tile
8. add in pedestal and toilet
9. oh wait if we are changing the ceiling to wood when does the ceiling get done? Last? we will be putting fans in the ceiling.
is this right? thanks !!!!

My contractor used "wonderboard" instead of regular sheetrock for the shower area. I heard from a few people that this is the "proper" way to do it since I heard its much better and is more resistant to water than regular sheetrock..
She used sheetrock for the rest of the bathroom.

...ours as well. And we had something added to the paint to protect against mildew. (we'll see how that does)
