I plan to have a small to moderate size 1st Birthday Party for Thomas at home. I plan to send inviations. Probably something simple created with a picture on Shutterfly.

I am having ds 1st b-day at our house next month. We keep it small (about 20 people) that's including children and I do not plan on sending invites, I'm just going to call everyone in another wk or two and tell them to mark down the date. I guess I'm getting lazy.Chat Icon

I am def. sending out invites. I don't like word of mouth type parties - people always end up getting confused with the time/date/place.

ETA: I guess it also depends on the type of party you are having. If it's on the smaller side you could do an Evite like Shelly said. We are having a blowout so I have no choice.

BUT - even for my families kids parties - they still send even handwritten invites in the mail.

I am having a small gathering at home and yes, I am sending out invites. I may also get handheld bubble machines for the kids and we will have a moon bounce for them to play on

I always make hand-drawn invitations (and color copy them). To me, I feel like everyone already knows what my kids look like, so I don't do the picture invite thing. Chat Icon

I draw something related to the party theme and include a little poem along with the party info. They're always a big hit.

I did a very small party for a few family members and one friend of mine who's baby is a month younger. I still sent invites- mostly to keep for her when she got older and for a keepsakes for my family(mom, dad and sis) who live out of town and couldn't be there.

I made them on Shutterfly and if you only need a few, they are really nice to have as a memento. JMO...

I am making invites in photoshop. Like Diana, I would worry about confusion but we have a large family so it helps to cut down on the confusion in our case.
