question re: 1st bday
My nephew is turning one on Saturday (his mom is my step-sister, but we are pretty close) and I got her/him a precious moments 1st bday statue. She has asked that we not get him anymore toys or clothes since he got so much for Christmas. I was going to give her money to put away for him but I have no idea how much to give. This is the first baby of the family (i'm due in August) and I just want to give an appropriate amount. I'm not worried about giving too much $ I just don't want her to feel that she has to do the same when I have my baby.
Sorry for the long email. Any advice would be greatly appericiated.

Re: question re: 1st bday
My sister and I made up a limit of $50.00 plus tax on any gifts we buy each others kids....unless its a special occasion such as a christining...or baby shower.

Re: question re: 1st bday
You could also get a savings bond - if you get Series EE ( I think that's what it's called) you pay half the face value. The Series I is face value but different return. My family is big on savings bonds.

Re: question re: 1st bday
For a nephew or niece, I'd probably give $100.

Re: question re: 1st bday
I would buy a savings bond. I would spend $100 and get a $200 bond.
