For those who are planning on Formula feeding...
Have you or your doctor said anything about only giving your child premade formula for the first 3 months??
See the ped we go to is very old school ( he was mine... ) and he seems to think that it's ok to give powdered formula from birth. Whereas my friends ped told her that the new rules are that the premade formula is for up to 3 months and if you want to switch to powdered formula after that you can.
See my issue is, powdered formula is soo much easier than the pre-made, if your child can have it. With my DD(years ago) we tried the BF but since i had GD and other issues the only way I could keep her sugar up was with the formula.

I plan on FF and my doctor hasnt mentionned anything about this. Although I plan on using RTF anyway, I feel like I've heard of plenty of moms who used powdered from day one.

Re: For those who are planning on Formula feeding...
My ped. is very young and up on all the latest practices. He said there was no difference between powder and rtf. So as soon as we were home from the hospital we used powder.

There is no difference. And my DS took Gentlease, which only comes in powder anyway.

The only difference is the constancy and the bubbles.
We used powder with DS right when we got home from the hospital and he had soo many issues.
With DD we have and will continue to use RTF. She can't tolerate the powder.

Re: For those who are planning on Formula feeding...
I guess it just depends on the child. I loved the powdered since I could leave the bottles filled with water on the counter or take them whereever and not have to worry about it being refrigerated or heating it up. But i do remember the bubbles vaguely. But i think i would just mix it about 10-15 minutes before I planned on feeding.

Re: For those who are planning on Formula feeding...
Emerson could not tolerate the powder formula early on so we used RTF until she was about 3 months. At that point her stomach was stronger and she was able to tolerate the powder with NO problem which was great news for us because the RTF was beginning to cost us a small fortune!!
