For those who delivered at South Nassau
how do their visiting hours work? is there a certain amount of visitors allowed in at a time? Also is your family allowed to see the baby right after its born.

Re: For those who delivered at South Nassau
My mom was in the delivery room with me and they actually let in my grandmother right after I gave birth to see the baby which I think is unusual.
DH could be there pretty much anytime he wanted...but I think the official dad visiting hours are 9-9. They are pretty lenient with visitors...I had 6 people in there at one time, I am sure people have more than that.

same for me. mom and DH were in the delivery room and my sister came in right after. only 2 people can be in during the birth and you can't rotate people.
DH could be there any time. he would stay until 11pm. you can have as many visitors as you want. i think regular visiting hours were like 1-8pm or something like that. i loved having visitors, but they will put a sign on your door if you're not up to it.
the rooms are HUGE and since it's a private room, you can fill it as much as you want!
i LOVED my time there. if you have any questions, feel free to FM me.

Re: For those who delivered at South Nassau
From what I remember, DH was able to come 8 - 8 and I forget what visiting hours were but they were all day I thought. My little guy had to go to the NICU to get checked out for a little while but I woul bet that once you are in a room people could come in. My MIL and son came right in after I delivered and the baby was taken away (before I was moved to a room).
It was a great place. I had a really good experience. I think the hours are listed on the website.
I just wanted to add that at one time I had two SIL's, two BIL's, MIL, FIL, two nephews, one niece, DH and my son at one time and no one said a word.

Re: For those who delivered at South Nassau
i just delivered there in september - you are going to love it!
DH was allowed to be there from 9 to 9 every day (i had a c-section so i was there friday - monday). i think visiting hours for everyone else were 12-8 or something like that. the baby is in the room with you all day so make sure NO one who is sick comes to see you! they never restricted the # of visitors i had, i think the most i had at one time was 8.
DH was in the OR with me but my whole family was allowed to come see me in recovery right after they took the baby into the nursery. DS was in the nursery from 9 to 1 pm to get his bath, bloodwork and to get his temperature up to normal, and then they brought him into my room and he was there all day.

Re: For those who delivered at South Nassau
if you feel like there are too many visitors do you have the choice to send the baby back to the nursery?

yes, absolutely. the nurses will take the baby back to the nursery at any time for any reason.

Re: For those who delivered at South Nassau
You are also allowed to keep the baby in the room with you 24/7, even overnight if you are breastfeeding or just want to have the baby there. Otherwise you can call the nurse and ask them to bring the baby back to the nursery so you can sleep and they will bring the baby to you when it is time to feed him/her.
