. I usually wrap the cookies in clear cellophane and then put them in a basket that is lined with a nice piece of fabric (usually a William-Sonoma napkin, a print that goes with that particular season).
If you don't have the basket, I've used flower pots that have been decorated for Christmas; I'd wrap the cookies in cellophane, get tissue paper for the decorative flower pot, and place the cookies in there.

I have ziploc plastic containers and I store the cookies in those around wax paper. I also have empty meal tins from previous holiday cookies and use that as well.
For homemade chocolates, I use plastic containers and plastic bags.

I buy cute plastic festive colored plates from Party City and wrap them in cellophane.

AT the end of each xmas year I buy big paper plates that are xmas motif. Then the next year I use them and wrap in cellophane with a big bow

I usually put them on either pretty plates you can find a dollar stores/big lots/etc or in holiday tupperware (by glad? I think makes them), so they are fresh if I know I can't give them right away.
