For those who purchased a new boiler
Can you give me some specifics? Feel free to FM me if you'd like. We are sick of our monthly budget of $228 a month for our original boiler but don't have cash to buy one outright. I'm curious to see the prices of them and what type of payment plans they offer. Thanks!

Re: For those who purchased a new boiler
We have gas heat and had a new furnace installed last year (not a boiler). We paid around $3300.

Thanks. We have oil. Did you do a payment plan? If so, do you mind sharing your average monthly payments?

No, we paid it in one lump sum. It was put in at the same time as our central air and we used our tax money. Sorry I can't help.

Re: For those who purchased a new boiler
We just did ours in January and we have gas. we did a direct vent system which doesn't require a chimney it cost us $5500--that was for a new boiler & storage tank. We went with the local guy in town and there was no payment plan. I remember sears want $7500 and you could pay it over a year but it was alot more. Keyspan, if you are thinking to change to gas will give you a new one I think for free or that was what they were offering when I asked if they were running any specials.

Wow free? Can I ask, what are the benefits to converting to gas? Thanks!

Re: For those who purchased a new boiler
In all honestly I am not sure. I guess that you don't have to wait for a delivery of oil and it there is no oil tank and everyone tells me it is better for the dryer but in all honestly i don't really know. I grew up with oil and then when we bought this house it was gas which I guess it is just a preference but I hate by gas stove but some say it is more efficient but I am not really sure.
Also the boiler might be free but they may charge you to run the gas line which could be just as much. I didn't look into it because we already had gas and they weren't running any specials for us.

Re: For those who purchased a new boiler
Thanks. People always ask what we have and when I say oil, they immediately say "you should switch to gas". I never understood that.
