For those who used to frequent the Smithhaven Mall area.....
I drove by there today and was really taken back about how it USED to be
Remember:
- that shady motel on the corner of 347 and 25 (by Pep Boys)
- when the mall had a movie theatre!
- when there was no Sports Authority, Office Max and Kmart
- when there WAS Kmart
- the mini-golf course down the road a bit on 347 (now is Country Pointe homes)
- Spaceplex!
- Carringtons
Ahhhhh the memories

I remember the drive-in diagonal from the mall, where there are now homes.
I also remember Corvettes and then Gertz where JC Penney is.
Oh and what about RockBottom!?! Hell, I remember what it was like before they built that plaza.

A&S was one of my very first credit cards. I'm a SUNY Stony Brook alum and when I was going there, ALL of those things were still around.

Re: For those who used to frequent the Smithhaven Mall area.....
omg i thought they were never going to knock down that shady motel!!! hahah!! and now - sports plus is added to the "memory" list! and remember when the hamlet homes was just a HUGE wooded area?!
it has changed so much - i love how they, last i remember, STILL have that out-dated OLD sign that used to be where they listed the movies --- i think it was covered up with something that said "simon malls" on it -- but it is blue and yellow and black and totally 1980's!! ugh! so funny.
i remember all the stores they used to have in the mall too - like sassssy hahahaha!!! and wow carrington's REALLY brought me back - girl scout dances!! lol lol.

Re: For those who used to frequent the Smithhaven Mall area.....
Yeah, the movie board on the Smithhaven Mall sign is just a big black board now
Oh - how about McCrory's! I used to buy such cheap-o Christmas gifts there (when I was in middle school). And it had the pet store in the back!
Remember the arcade they had there too?

Anybody who lives around East Patchogue should remember Caldor because its empty shell was there for so long after it closed. It only was recently demolished for Lowe's...except, they didn't take down the sign pointing to Caldor and Pergament!
Thankfully, that should be opening soon, and I heard Shoprite may be going where Waldbaum's was, just down the road.
Anybody remember Cheap Johns? They had a few locations (I remember the one on Sunrise in Patchogue where Party City is, and the one on the corner of Broadway and Vets in Holbrook). That was the definition of "kid in a candy store."

Do you guys remember the fountains in the Smithaven Mall?
Moments of Love? Fluff & Stuff? Import Alley? Orange Julius?
I loved McCrory's pretzels and slushies!
And do you guys recall the step down circle in the middle of the mall, where they would set up the Christmas Train?
Ahhhh memories!

I loved cheap johns when I was a kid! 3 for a $1 candy and we always bought or plastic Halloween costumes there The mall has gotten very fancy. I remember going to the movies and getting and A&S mouse when shopping in that store for christmas one year.
