For those with dogs how were they with baby...
I have 2 dogs a boxer and an american bulldog and both are wonderful.. Just wondering how your dog/s were when you brought baby home? I will have them each get a cap the baby wore in hospital before I get home... Anything else I should try? Thanks

Re: For those with dogs how were they with baby...
We hae our Shayna,,, a 3.5 lb yorkie.... She was great with Jacob. All we did was bring a receiving blanket home for her to smell. We also had one of our friends bring over there child so we could see how she would react and she was calm with her.
When we came home from the hospital my husband took the baby in first to the house,to let Shayna get acquainted and then I came in...
All I can say is that they get along great. Our yorkie is not hyper very calm and doesn't bark that much so we knew she would be good with him...
Good luck

I have two very nasty chihuahuas, and they are fine with her. If anything, they are more protective over her than us these days. We gave them her cap and a opsine, and when we cam home, we put her on the follor in her carseat for them to sniff. (Juliette about 4 days old...) Image Attachment(s):

I have a minpin and she was great. She was by my side my whole pregnancy and she told me when I was going to go into labor. I was three weeks and a day early not expecting a thing and she would not move away from me she just kpet wanting to lay on my belly. All the sudden I got up and my water broke!! She knew and I didn't When I brought my daughter home she sniffed her gently and was very gentle with her. It was like she knew all along what was going on!!

We have a german shepard and a strange mutt dog that looks like an ottoman or a pot bellied pig and both are really good with Emily. THey like to sniff her diaper but other then that they leave her alone. They come and chck out what's going on when she's crying and like to watch her get a bath but other then that they really don't even pay attention to her most of the time.

I have a 3 year old American Bulldog and although we haven't had our baby yet I can tell you how she is with other babies brought into my house. I have 10 neices and nephews so she has had a pretty good test. She is mothering and likes to sit right by them. A big mushball as I'm sure your AB is :) She will escort the toddlers up the steps like a seeing eye dog and sit by an infants carrier. All in all I think she will be ok with our baby. We intend to do the blanket scent for her as well.

We have a german shepard mix and he's great with Nate. The pic in my avatar was one of the few times that Dexter let Nate sit so close to him. Dexter loves to sniff Nate and now like to lick him when I feed Nate cereal. Now Nate grabs is coat so he usually runs away when Nate reaches out.

Re: For those with dogs how were they with baby...
When I brought the baby home my mom was at my house with her boxer what I did was I gave my FH one of the recieving blankets to take hoome before I came home so the dog can get use to her scent and she was great with marissa. Whenever I brought her to my moms the dog would sit by h er and not move if she was in her playpen and she woke up the dog went running and then came to get either mine or my mothers attention to go to the baby

Re: For those with dogs how were they with baby...
We have an older chihuahua that we just adopted last year. When I was in the hospital, DH brought home a blanket for the doggy to sniff. It was a bit of an adjustment at first - it's not that he was bad with the baby, just more like we could tell he was REALLY insecure about his status in the family now. FOr the first few weeks he was much more needy and clingy. Now he's more comfortable with Alex and will even sit right up against her when she's playing on her mat on the floor. Whenever I nurse her, he jumps up in my lap...
