Forced furlough days?
Anyone have these at work? I just found out the University is having a meeting in 2 weeks to decide the details. But the school will be closed and we will be forced to take days off without pay.

my dh's company made them do it one year (the week between xmas and new year's i believe).
do you have a contract or union? i work at a university and i'm sure my union wouldn't let them do that to us.

Actually, I found out that graduate assistants are exempt. So I guess that would mean we would get paid days off if the university closes.

I thought you got paid the unemployment rate for furlough days...

Yikes. I hope the university I work for doesn't get wind of this! We don't have unions, and this sounds like something they would do.
