Formula on tongue

I know I have asked this before, but I can't seem to really get the formula off my sons tongue. There is quite alot of buildup on there. (and its not thrush). I let him sucj on a wet washcloth (which he loves) and I have given him some water in a bottle, but its still on there. I have also tried that little thimble like thing, and nothing. Any suggestions?

Re: Formula on tongue

I really wouldn't worry about it unless it seems to be bothering the baby. It will go away on it's own. DD had it pretty bad, but she is 12 weeks now and it isn't there now. I think their little tonuges are probably rougher in the beginning so the formula sticks.

I am sure it is fine. DD had this the Dr told me to wet a cotton ball and try to clean it off her tongue.. I tried, but she kept trying to eat my fingers... The Dr told me not to worry about it. At 3 months there is no more build up. I forget when it went away

Re: Formula on tongue

This happened to DS2. We did the wet washcloth, and it would work to some degree but there was always some on there. It was pretty gross, I will admit! Suddenly, it just stopped happening.

Re: Formula on tongue

My doctor told us to put a small drop of maple syrup on the wet wash cloth and wipe the tongue.

Re: Formula on tongue

My DS2 had this very, very bad as well. He was actually on a thrush medication which it turns out he did not have!! As much as we wiped his tongue with a damp washcloth it did not come off. Amazingly when I switched my DS to Alimentum formula it went away within a day. I think he was allergic to the soy formula......

Re: Formula on tongue

Thanks ladies!! I hope that it goes away like you ladies said. It just seems pretty gross for him that there is so much left on his tongue.
