Formula Questions
Ok
I need help understanding this whole thing.
How far in advance can you make bottles ( pre mix the formula and water?) ....and say...leave them in the fridge?
What about taking a pre mixed bottle With you? How long will it last? Does it need to be in a cooler or cooler bag?
Should you always just make a new one at that time?
TIA!

Re: Formula Questions
24 hours is the longest you are supposed to keep the prepared bottles in fridge. I use powder and make up a batch of bottles to last about 24 hours at a time. If I'm going out, I just put the water in the bottle and bring a small container with formula (aka a formula dispenser from Walmart) and when she's ready to eat, add the formula to the water.
If you prepare the bottle before going out, you have to keep it chilled and depending on what you use, it could last all day. I don't do that because it's just easier to carry the bottle and formula separate than lugging an ice pack and cooler bag.

Re: Formula Questions
Hey!!
I make formula in a pitcher my mom found me at BRU, it makes up to 36 oz. Then I warm it up.
As for when we go out, I fill bottles with water and a baggie of formula with a scoop and make as needed. I know they make containers as well.

Re: Formula Questions
as PP said, I believe it's 24 hours once you make formula (whether in a bottle or in a big batch). I found it easier to have a pitcher of formula in the fridge OR a pitcher of boiled water on the counter since feedings were so frequent.
When going out, if it was a short trip, I'd take it in an insulated bag.
AS she got older and I started using bottled water, I'd put the dry formula in the bottle, then add water when needed....it was already room temp. This was nice since she was using less bottles.
