formula ?... re: using soy and regular
Sooo long story, I BFed for 3 months but occasionally gave DS regular formula and he had spit up and gas problems...so later while I was weaning from BFing I used soy formula to avoid that even though I had a HUGE supply of regular formula from the hospital.
Turns out, he still had spit up problems w/the soy so I then tried the regular formula again to use up my supply and since DS was older (Im assuming) the gas was no longer an issue but the spit up still was. So basically, he spits up a lot on either. I want to switch back to regular now b/c since being back on the soy he hasnt pooped in 4 days. AM I crazy?! I know I have to stick to one kind but do you think Im messing his little digestive system up again by switching back to regular formula??

Re: formula ?... re: using soy and regular
personally i think you need to give one formula some time. i wouldnt keep switching.
have you spoken to your ped? they can help you figure out what is going on.
etd to add that hannah is on soy milk and was on soy formula before that and i used to give her watered down juice to help with bms.

Re: formula ?... re: using soy and regular
All my kids have been spitters regardless of what type of formula they were on...My pediatrician had me put some rice cereal in the bottle to ease the spitting..(this was before Enfamil AR)..it always helped tremendously.
With Caden he was gassy and a spitter so I use Gentlease with a Tablespoon of Beechnut Rice Cereal in each bottle..He definitely spits up less and the gas is gone.

Re: formula ?... re: using soy and regular
If you find out the answer please post. I am in the same situation. DC spits up almost the same amount with soy and regular formula. After reading that soy is not that good for babies I am wondering if it is better to switch back.

Re: formula ?... re: using soy and regular
I know its been a while. We went to the dr today and they said if there isn't a difference with the amount of spit up to switch back to the regular formula.
