found cysts at my 20wk sono... now what?
I know others have posted something about this before. My Dr. seems to think its not a big deal b/c my blood work and all the baby measurements look very good but they did find 2 Choroid Plexus Cysts on the baby's brain. The research I've seen and what everyone tells me is that it usually goes away and is nothing as long as there are no other abnormalties. So I have 2 questions. 1. has this happened to anyone else? 2. Does anyone know a good place that would give me a second sono for a 2nd opinion that takes Empire insurance? (i'm in long beach but would travel for a good dr.)

my girlfriend at work just went through this at her 20 wk sono. We looked it up and it was seen as "normal." She just went back for her follow up sono and the cysts were gone.

My sister went through this with her 4th child. They sent her for an amnio and everything came back fine. She was told it is very common. My niece is 7 years old now and very healthy.

Researchers say that they think its a normal part of brain development and that most/all babies get them during their brain development. It just happens to be that your baby had them when you went for an ultrasound......

i remember googling alot of things before i went to the 20wk....the 2 common possibles were - cysts- which they said for the most part go away, or placenta previa which could mean bedrest....
i didnt think theres anything they could "do" with the cysts that you'd need a second opinion on

My daughter had one - I freaked out until I did more research and saw that in 99% of the cases it meant absolutely nothing and disappeared on its own, which is exactly what happened in our case.
My ob/gyn theorizes it is a normal part of development but wasn't identifiable until recently with new technology.
