Found my 3.5 month old on her belly twice during the night....

I guess my DD learned to roll Chat Icon She woke up crying at 1:30 am (not unusual) and I went into her room and found her on her tummy! This morning I awoke at 7:15 am panicked b/c she ALWAYS is awake by 5:30 am...I ran into her room and she was on her belly again in her crib sleeping very soundly. She woke up when I ran in there though. We still wrap her in her miracle blanket. Anyway....just from this one experience she seems to like sleeping on her belly and she sleeps longer/better that way. I am going to continue placing her on her back, but there's nothing I can do to prevent her from rolling, right??

you can buy the mat that has side "guards" but honestly once my daughter rolled over she rolled right over the "guards".

If she's comfy and sleeping well and you feel okay with it sounds like a great new arrangement!

I would leave her in her back. She will eventually roll again now.

I would not use the miracle blanket and swaddle her arms though.

ITA. I wouldn't restrict her arms if she's rolling onto her belly. I would just put her on her back and if she rolls, enjoy the extra sleepChat Icon

If she is rolling I wouldn't use the Miracle Blanket anymore.

DS was rolling over when he was 2.5 mnths old...I am not ready for him to belly sleep yet - so I bought a sleep positioner and that has been working out great so far!

I called my ped in a panic after a night like that and he told me that once they start rolling you don't have to worry about them sleeping on their back b/c they know enough to move their heads on their own at that point so they can breathe. Chat Icon

My ped said once they roll back to belly you can let them sleep on their bellies - I would put her on her back and if she rolls she rolls - I wouldn't swaddle her though so she can use her arms if she needs them.

Re: Found my 3.5 month old on her belly twice during the night....

Once Luca figured out how to do it on his own, I no longer worried. He slept so much better and longer, so in hindsight it was a blessing. If I have another bad sleeper, I will probably put them on their belly earlier.
