FREAKING OUT!! Possible Swine flu at home!UPDATE PLUS PSA FOR THOSE LOOKING FOR THE VACCINE
I am sure no one is up at this time but me. DH all of a sudden is coughing and has a fever. From his symptoms I am pretty sure its H1n1. I have a 3 month old, an almost 3 year old and I have a lung condition. We have not been able to get vaccinated.
I banished him to the 3rd floor. I just want to sit here and cry. I am having such fatalastic thoughts - I am going to have a panic attack!!
UPDATE: They tested DH and thankfully it is not the flu plus he feels 100% better today so go figure.
PSA: It did cause me to get in gear and get the vaccine. I went into the city to get it. On the NYC Health Department Website it lists the places that have it. They had tons of it availavble and I was in and out (my DD too) in about an hour.
Thank you to everyone for your hugs and prayers

Don't panic. The flu is the flu. Banishing DH was good. Call the MD first thing in the morning and get him an appointment. Make sure the MD knows about the family so s/he can offer suitable precautions for the rest of the family.

First off - don't panic just yet as it could be anything - so many things are going around and it could be anything.
If it seems the same tomorrow I would have him go to the Dr. and see if he can get swabbed to see if it is H1N1. I would then call your ped and your own Dr. and see if they suggest giving Tamiflu preventatively - if they think the situation warrants.
Sending you lots and lots of and

Don't freak out. DH, DS and I have had those symptoms over the past week and all tests came back fine.

it also can just be the plain ol flu. take a deep breath and when you get up call the dr and get him in to see them.

Don't freak yet - we all had the same symptoms last week. When I called the ped they said that the flu (either kind) would be accompanied with HIGH fever - it may just be a virus.

This is just simply not true. There have been thousands of cases with no fever at all.

Re: FREAKING OUT!! Possible Swine flu at home!
I hope you got through the night. I have a 3 1/2 year old and a 3 month old and my 3 1/2 year old had those symptoms almost three weeks ago - cough, runny nose and high fever ( 103.5). I did NOTHING. She wouldnt even take tylenol to get her fever down. She recovered and is totally fine now. My 3 month old got the same thing minus the fever and he is fine too.
Maybe I should have had her swabbed but I figured it was just the cold or the flu.
