Freaking out thinking of changing mind RE: CSECTION

I have been reading so many posts about csections and the risks, and now infections. Im a nurse and i know how risky any surgery is and how this is an abdominal surgery. Im supposed to have a csection on feb 12th. One reason for the pubic symphis since my pelvic bones are pretty much broken and DS is measuring 2 to 3 weeks ahead and the pain now is unbearable to even just have BM (sorry for the TMI) other reason doctor suggest is because during one of my NST baby did have a couple of Decels and i was sent to hospital where he had a few more. So they left it up to me and my decision was to have the csection because why risk it with my son and all the contractions. They had said i could deliver vaginally but may have to use a walker to walk after delivery which i dont see being easy and taking care of new born. Maybe its just cold feet but im really freaking out over here. I just dont want anything to happen to me where i wont be here for my DH and my son. Chat Icon What are your suggestions. Should i take the risk of doing a vaginal delivery. or stick with my csection that is sceduled for thursday? Chat Icon Thanks girls

I would do a C-you are risking too much with your conditions and the pressure that a vaginal delivery would have on your pelvis.

Go with the C. Everything will be fine. I loved my first and in 7 weeks I will have my second!

I would DEFINITELY take the risk of Csection. I had one with DD when she failed to descend, turned sunny side up and I never got past 7 cm and my contractions were weakening and I had merconium when my water broke on it's own at the hospital. It was the best decision I made.

I am NOT in favor of having a section for the fun of it - but when medically necessary it is the RIGHT decision and I back them all the way. You don't want to run the risk of the baby getting suck in the birth canal and ending up with a shoulder dytoscia or brain damage. Even more if they are talking about the fact that you will need a walker after birth why would you risk that - b.c you will be no good to yourself or your baby if you can't take care of them - and you don't want to further complicate your issues. if it was me I would have the section and never look back I think you made the right and smart choice for your situation.

This is why I DON"T like those csection threads b.c they DO scare people and honestly the risks of vaginal delivery exist too, esp as you described your circumstances. I would NOT let a thread on here sway you one way or another. If you trust your OB you should be comfortable letting them tell you what your best alternatives are - and I would go with their education and the fact that they have you and your baby's health in their best interests.

I would have the C-section. I had a C and I'll be honest, the recovery was a lot longer than delivering vaginally and it was uncomfortable but everything went fine. I had NO complications and I'm 100% back to my old self. Surgery is scary but try not to worry yourself too much. I'm sure you have a very good OB so everything will be fine. Chat Icon Chat Icon

I would also stick with the C. I had a pretty good recovery and the next baby will be a C as well (God willing). I wouldn't risk going through the pain of labor with the possiblity of it ending in a C anyway. You will be fineChat Icon

Thanks girls! I guess the doubt is in my mind because she did leave the decision to me. I should just follow my gut instinct and stick with the scheduled csection as planned and pray for the best. I being a nurse should be the best patient.. but in turn im the worst and fear the worst because i see what really goes on behind those hospital doors. THanks for all the support.

ITA. You can’t compare your situation (where there are very valid reasons for having it) to a thread that discusses people having them for convenience. Given the decels alone, I think having a csection is a no brainer.

I have known tons of friends/family who had a csection and no one had anything bad happen to them!! It sounds as if you're in a position where it would be better for you to do it this way!! I would not worry, I am sure you will be just fine!! Chat Icon

Honestly. It sounds like you need one! The risks outweigh the benifits. If your pelvis breaks you will be in WAY worse shape than if you have the C.

Good Luck. Chat Icon
