Freezing Embryos Questions
So I am confused. How do they decide what embryos are able to be frozen? Do they freeze all of the blasts at day 5? Also, what percentage of them survive the thaw?
Any clarification on this process would be appreciated including your own personal stories!

Re: Freezing Embryos Questions
My RE has specific criteria regarding which blasts they will freeze. They have a grading system with a number and 2 letters - the number gives information about the stage of development (at my clinic, 4 = blast, 5 is the best which is hatching blast) and the following 2 letters are also part (I forget exactly what they mean though).
With vitrification (a certain type of freezing) the thaw rates are pretty good.
For us, for our first FET - we thawed 3 and all 3 survived and were transferred.
For our second FET - we had to thaw 5 to get the 3 to transfer since 2 did not make it.

Re: Freezing Embryos Questions
It depends upon the RE - I have heard a lot of different things. Here's what mine did:
We did a 5 day transfer and they froze the rest on day 7.
I think we were told that 50% survive the thaw.
