freezing meatballs

Do you freeze them after they are cooked or pre-cooked? (If the answer is pre-cooked, how do you get them from sticking together and getting messed up in the freezer?)

Re: freezing meatballs

I cook them in sauce and then freeze them with a little sauce to make them easier to reheat.

After your last post, not sure this is an option but I used to freeze the whole tray (cooked) then transfer to zip lock bags.

I do the same thing. I seperate them into smaller containers with a few meatballs and some extra sauce so there's enough to add to pasta if that's what I feel like having.

Re: freezing meatballs

I freeze them after baking.
4-6 meatballs in a quart size ziploc bag, then a bunch of the quart bags inside a gallon size ziploc.
Takes up less space than if I use a plastic container, and I can also take out as many meatballs as I need.

I cook them in sauce and then take them out. I lay them flat in a freezer bag so they don't stick together.

Re: freezing meatballs

cooked or not cooked... put them on a cookie sheet in the freezer to flash freeze them... don't keep them in there too long, only until they are frozen... then put them all in a zip lock bag!
