Re: freezing meats
I use Ziploc bags.
I buy 5 lbs of chicken at a time; because I buy organic; so I will place about 3-4 cutlets in a ziploc and freeze.
Chopmeat I do the same. I flatten out the chopmeat in the bag to make it one big flat square. It defrosts much quicker that way; than if it was left in a big chopmeat ball.
I never use foil on any meat or poultry when I freeze.

Anything I'm going to cook all at once I keep in the original package. If I buy a large pack of chicken cutlets I portion them out and wrap them tightly in plastic wrap and then put in a ziplock.

I buy chicken cutlets from Costco (10 lb bag) so they just stay in that bag and take out as necessary. Ground beef I usually leave it's in packaging. Steaks i'll separate since I usually won't need them all at once.

I buy all my meat from a butcher so it's all portioned out for me. I just freeze everything in the package from the butcher. It's wrapped in paper and then saran wrap on the outside.

I portion out and put in zip lock bags. If I had an extra freezer and knew I was going to use the whole package at once I would freeze in the package as long as it was clean. I can't stand meat/chicken drippings and cringe at the thought of them in my fridge/freezer touching other items - even if they're wrapped.

Re: freezing meats
I never freeze meats in the original packaging. I prepare chicken, pork chops, steak (trim, portion, season/marinate) and use ziplock bags and label. Then I just take a bag out of the freezer/defrost and cook when I want. Chopmeat, I portion into burgers and freeze (I still use the old Tupperware burger molds) or I cook meatballs and then freeze them in managable portions.
