Re: Freezing Pipes
As long as you keep your heat on in the house, the pipes shouldn't freeze.

We're 80% unpacked........thank god!
We'll get more done this weekend, and then we should be fully settled.
We've been keeping the heat at 67 to keep the house cozy to avoid any freezing.

Re: Freezing Pipes
My parents used to leave the water in the sink running very little.....So this wouldnt happen. We had one year, where the pipes burst. There was water shooting out of the ceilings and out of the walls.
I was just coming home from picking up chinese food and in the living room window I see my sister and my parents running around with pots in their hands...I had no idea what wass going on.
I got in the house, and there was water everywhere. My dad tells me not to go in my bedroom, so of course I do.....and I find a Pipe sticking out of the wall...and water all over the place.
Not a good day

You'll get there. My goal eahc night was to empty 2-3 boxes. Besides, I was moving from an apt to a house - not much to unpack b/c I didn't have the space.

Re: Freezing Pipes
We have but it is our kitchen sink pipe that is on an outside wall. The past couple of days we have left a steady small stream of water running. My DH is going to fix it this weekend

Re: Freezing Pipes
I am waiting for the plumber as I type. I have four heating zones and when I came downstairs this morning, my main zone was not working. I called Slomins, who came in under one hour, and initially told me it was a circulator. Two hours later, they tell me that despite changing the circulator, still no heat and that as nothing is coming through the pipes, it must be a frozen pipe. Who knows??? At this point I just want heat downstairs.

Re: Freezing Pipes
DH insulated our water pipes before the winter and now he is talking about insulating the actual hot water heater...I have no clue what this all entails or means but thought I'd throw it out there.

Re: Freezing Pipes
Only in my laundry room (in the garage).
We use a space heater until we go to bed.
For inside the house, just run a bit of water running.
