The obvious first cruise ship is Disney's Big Red Ship. the other cruise line that has a great program for children is carnival.

I would def say Carnival. It was fantastic!!!! All the kids on board had a great time at Camp Carnival and now a lot of the ships are being refurbished with a waterpark type place called Waterworks.

i looked into disney but their kiddie programs don't start until 3 years old.

What carnival ship do you recommend?

We really enjoyed the Carnival Miracle. The Camp was great and there are so many empty spaces on the ship for the kids to just run around.

We had the suite, Cat 12 and it worked out fantastic for us.

Here are some pics:)

Re: frequent cruisers

Carnival is a great line for that age group and the price is not too bad either. You need to decide a few things, how long you want to cruise for, what ports you want to visit and if you want to cruise out of NY or Florida.
I have only cruised out of Ft Lauderdale/Pt Everglades and Port Canaveral.

Re: frequent cruisers

My sister is thinking of going on the NCL Gem. My niece is 2 yrs old next month. I just booked this for DH and I , 5th anniversary cruise. They take kids from age 2. It is the jr sailors program, and if there diaper needs to be changed they give you a pager so u can change it. I hope this helps. We are going the week of Presidents week( DH is a teacher) and we get right on in NY, no plane. HTH. I think they also give reduced rates for 3rd and 4th people in the room. I have been on NCL and have had good experiences with them.
