friendly reminder - shopping cart related please read
PLEASE secure your kids when using store carts, shopping carts etc.
Over the past two days, at two separate Kohl's locations, I've seen two accidents with their new carts. (maybe Kohl's should rethink these new carts)
They have a cart where a child can be strapped into a seat on the front of the cart, in front of the compartment for placing items.
BOTH cases, the children were not strapped in and attempted to climb out and the carts tipped forward.
The first time, I ended up calling an ambulance. I have never in my life seen more blood than I did on Thursday. Teeth knocked out, he probably got 15+ stitches in his mouth. 3.5 years old ...
The second time, no blood but a good bump.
PLEASE PLEASE PLEASE watch your kids I know accidents happen but MANY can be prevented. That poor little boy. This goes for all carts, wagons, etc.

Here's a pic of the cart. I looked it up, since I wasn't familiar with them.

Re: friendly reminder - shopping cart related please read
I am a little crazy about this because I saw a little one fall out of a shopping cart in Costco last year on the cement floor and that scream will stay with me for a long time.
I've started complaining at stores where there are carts with broken straps. The one that annoys me the most is BRU and TRU, this is a store where children are supposed to be welcome and I cannot tell you how many times I've gone to both stores near me and their carts are without straps, missing a strap or are broken. Its unacceptable to me, so I complain to a manager, who always assures me that they will remove the cart (I hope they really do).

Omg! DS is about to be able to sit in carts and I can't imagine not strapping him in, but I will always be extra careful about making sure he is strapped in now!

Re: friendly reminder - shopping cart related please read
Thank you for posting this. Just today at target DS proceeded to stand up in the cart seat!! Today was the first time he ever did this. We were at the register and I put the cart at the end so I could load the cart. In a matter of a second the boy had one leg out and putting his other foot out. I screamed so loud people turned their heads. I didn't care. the look on his face was priceless. He knew he was in trouble. I have learned my lesson when I'm shopping with DS. I don't care how long the line in back of me is. But I will keep DS near me at all times. Even if it means bagging up items and/or the cart makes me stall the line. I'm always trying to rush out of register so others can be taken care of quickly. But not anymore with DS. What he did scared the crap out of me. And he was STRAPPED in.
I feel so bad for that poor little boy.

Re: friendly reminder - shopping cart related please read
Thank You for this reminder! My Stop n Shop had the WORST carts in the world..why? At least half of them had broken baby seat straps. I'd get so mad.
They recently had a "Grand re-opening", got rid of the nasty red carts and have brand new purple ones which are pretty nice!
I used the Khols cart once when DS was little. He was strapped in, so, thank Goodness no issues. I do use the stroller with DD when I shop there and just put all my items in one of the shopping bags on my shoulder! So much better because sometimes she may fall asleep as well.

Re: friendly reminder - shopping cart related please read
What a scary thing to witness! But thanks for the info. When we take my granddaughter to the supermarket we use the cart cover. I read the instructions it says the strap is supposed to go thru the back of seat.....well the darn carts have an advertisement on the back of the seat so there is no way you can put the strap thru the seat back!!

Re: friendly reminder - shopping cart related please read
DS almost climbed out of the shopping cart once at the grocery store when DH and I took our eyes off him for a second. Now we always buckle him in, both to carts and highchairs. If the belt is broken, I get another cart.
