Frontline VS. K9 Advantage
In the past I have always used Frontline Plus, but I was just comparing prices on different websites and PetMeds recommends K9 Advantage. Anyone use this for their dogs before?

Re: Frontline VS. K9 Advantage
I use Sentinel monthly. It's mostly for worms and such but it also prevents flea eggs. If the dog has adult flas though, Sentinel will not work. I paid I believe $90.00 for a 12 month supply.
Here's a description Sentinel Flavor Tabs are for use in dogs and puppies that weigh at least 2 lbs and are four weeks of age or older. Sentinel Flavor Tabs are used to prevent heartworm disease and to control adult hookworm infections. Sentinel Flavor Tabs are also used to remove and control adult roundworm and whipworm infections. Sentinel Flavor Tablets also contain the insect growth regulator, Lufenuron, which is used to control fleas by preventing the development of flea eggs. The medication does not kill adult fleas.
ETA: Just wanted to add, as with anything ask your vet what would be the best for Tiny!!

We use Frontline - Especially because we have Misty in the woods alot, we have found dead ticks on her a couple of times, so I know it works.

What do you suggest if you live in an area notorious for deer ticks? I don't want to use that stuff on her, but I don't want her to get lime disease eighter.

Re: Frontline VS. K9 Advantage
i'd suggest some pill form, not the kind you squeeze onto their neck. eta: im sorry im not of much help, i dont have to use anything like that since i live in the city. ticks and fleas are not a problem for us.

I agree, I only use it cuz I know for sure that it kills the ticks...I really don't want her to get lyme disease.

Frontline.......
DO NOT GET K-9 Advantix if you have a CAT!!!!
It is deadly to cats, that is why my vet does not sell it.

Sentinel
We plan on taking her to fire island over the summer. We spoke with the vet he suggested also getting a Lyme vaccine for the summer and going on Frontline during the summer months. We keep her on Sentinel year round though.

Re: Frontline VS. K9 Advantage
We use Revolution, alot more $$$ but it covers heartworm as well so you dont need a flea/tick protection as well as Heartgard.

Re: Frontline VS. K9 Advantage
this time we tried the advantix...we moved to the water and this protects against mosquitos....I'd rather not put this on him...but like the others, I don't want to see him get lime's disease or west nile, etc...

Re: Frontline VS. K9 Advantage
My vet told us to use Frontline because since Bruno is so litte, he felt the K9 would be too strong. If he was a hunting or large dog, he would have recommended K9. Bruno also gets a lyme disease shot.

Re: Frontline VS. K9 Advantage
We use K9 Advantage for Golem, our vet recommended it. All dogs are different though, so it's hard to say what you should and shouldn't use for your particular pet. We've been using K9 for almost 2 years now and it works very well.
