Frozen Embryos

I have frozen embryos at LI IVF. I had my 1st transfer in April and did not get pg. I froze the rest and then got pg with 2 in May. I now have a healthy 3 month old baby. My question is about my remaining frozen embryos. I'm afraid to call them b/c I really don't have another $1,000 right now to freeze for another year. I thought that once I had this baby I would not want any more babies, and I don't think that I do, but to actually let go of those embryos is kind of killing me. Can they do anything with them without calling me first?

Re: Frozen Embryos

No, they have to contact you before doing anything with the embryos....but that doesn't mean that you won't just get a bill at some point for the storage.
If I were you, I would call and find out when your bill would be due so you know how much time you have to make a final decision.

I agreeit is better to know eactly what the procedure is. And maybe they have a payment plan so you don't have to pay al $1000 at once.

Jen2999 - Did they ask you what you wanted to do with your unwanted frozen embryos? (E.g., discard, use for research or donate?) I know that I had to choose one - now that's freaking me out too. Also, did you ever let them know about your baby's birth or anything? I'm kind of surprised that they didn't follow up - or maybe they follow up with obgyn?
