fueling gas
Today on wbli on my way to work I was listening to Randy/dana Talking about fueling gas well Randy thinks its ok to leave the car on when pumping gas. My question today is who shuts leaves the car running while pumping gas? I dont because on the pumps it says Please turn off engine before pumping gas.and i would never leave my car running its dangerous because of the fumes. So i heard people call in and the second person was a lady who works at a hess gas station say's oh i leave my engine on and i also smoke my cigarette while pumping gas"HELLO" do you know that's dangerous so i call in when i went to 7-11 when i was in my car and said I never leave my car running that i shut it off and I told randy he was wrong so he came on the phone and said No I am not young lady I told him its dangerous and that he rather be safe than sorry than he called me a sweet girl and asked me if i was on my way to work and i was like yes than they had to go back on the air....LOL

Re: fueling gas
I used to keep my car running until a few months ago.
The gas station attendant yelled at me and told me a story about how back in his country, he lost a family member b/c of an explosion at a gas station b/c the car was left running.
Now I always turn it off.

Re: fueling gas
I have only kept my engine running once or twice. the last time was during that heat wave we had. I'm a spoiled brat and had to have the a/c running

Re: fueling gas
I've never even thought about it. I always shut it off! I'm even afraid now of being on my cell phone when I pump.

Re: fueling gas
I am bad. I rarely pump my own gas now because of the baby. I feel bad leaving her in the car alone while I go inside to pay and all that....so I always go to places that are full service -- -and I always leave it on.

Re: fueling gas
I shut it off.
You can damage your O2 sensor if you leave it on.
Diesel engines however, can be left running when re-fueling.

Really? I would have thought the attendant would ask you to shut it off!

I go to 2 places pretty much exclusively and neither of them have ever said anything to me. I should really start shutting it off though.

Re: fueling gas
always turn it off. It's extremely dangerous to keep it running while your pumping your gas. It causes some sort of static similar to what the cell phones cause that can lead to an explosion.
