Full time working moms - do you exercise?
I work full time. I'm up at 6:30am with baby, shower, leave by 8:00am the latest, work, pick her up, home by 5:30pm. Play, eat, bath, bed by 8pm.
Then I start dinner, eat, and clean up by 9pm. By 9 I just want to collapse.
How do I incorporate exercise into my schedule? I need to get these 25 lbs OFF!!!
I do have a gym in my office but because I need to leave by 4:30 to pick up DD it would not be "acceptable" for me to take a lunch. I also can't go early or late because of my daycare hours (DH can not do drop offs or pick ups.)
How do you girls do it?????
eta: I do work 2 days from home and try to squeeze in a DVD while the sitters here. It depends on my work load.

Re: Full time working moms - do you exercise?
I have a exercise room in my building and I can't even find time to do it.
We take a long walk after I pick her up from daycare, does that count?

Re: Full time working moms - do you exercise?
I don't exercise- I just am too tired and sleep deprived! Matty is often up at 5am! Thank G-d he is sleeping through the night finally. DH and I talked yesterday and are going to try to motivate each other to be in bed by 10pm- I'll hopefully have more energy and more of a sex drive!
It is so hard to find time for anything anymore!

Re: Full time working moms - do you exercise?
When he slept thru the night consistently I would get up at 5-5:30 and work out before he woke up. He is teething though so this is out the window since I'm up w/him alot at night. I REALLY need to get back to it though, I didn't miss that hour in the morning and felt so much better overall.

Re: Full time working moms - do you exercise?
I have been doing a lot of walking - I walk with a friend at work during lunch, I walk with dh, dc, and our dog when we get home, and a friend in the neighborhood and I go for long walks about 3x a week in the evening after dc goes to bed. It doesnt feel enough but I am happy that it is something.

Re: Full time working moms - do you exercise?
no, I don't have the time and I'm not motivated enough to make the time. After I put DD to sleep I have at least 1 hour of work to do at home and I work for about 2 hours (sometimes more) on the weekends. I really should do something in the summer, when I'm off, but I don't. We do take long daily walks in the summer though.
A friend of mine goes to the gym on her lunch hour.

Re: Full time working moms - do you exercise?
I can sometimes squeeze in three days a week on my elliptical. That's on a good week.
I hop on at about 9:30pm after everything else is done! That's the only way I can find time.
Most weeks it's a big fat NO because by 9:30 I'm too tired or there is something else to do...

Re: Full time working moms - do you exercise?
For a while I was getting up before they did at 6:30 and walking on the treadmill but now that they are getting up a bit earlier, I have stopped.
I really should start doing it again.

Re: Full time working moms - do you exercise?
nope - I haven't found the time yet to excercise, although I want to. What I do is the I try to take the stairs at work. I walk from the parking garage to the building (several blocks instead of taking the office shuttle). ANyway, stuff like that so that I can feel like I am doing something...
I really need to start doing some situps though.
I also try to compensate by eating SUPER healthy. WHole grains, plenty of fruit and veggies. Lots of fiber.

Re: Full time working moms - do you exercise?
I go to kickboxing 3 - 4 times a week.
I can only go if my DH is home to watch the girls. If he's not home, I don't get to go. I'll usually walk on the other nights.

Re: Full time working moms - do you exercise?
Nope. But I really want to. I am getting a treadmill for my birthday in Aug so hopefully I will use it at night when DD is in bed and DH and I watch TV. I am also going to try and go on it in the am before she gets up if I can. It's so hard. There is just not enough time for everything you want to do and the guillt is all around you. Guilt if I am not at work enough, guilt if I work out and don't spend the time with DD, guilt that the house is a mess etc. It is so hard some times.

Re: Full time working moms - do you exercise?
Why isn't it acceptable for you to take a lunch? Even if it's just 20 minutes, that would be the perfect time to fit it in.
My job requires that we take an hour long lunch break - technically we aren't allowed to work through lunch, so I workout 3 days a week during lunch. My gym is a block away so I take a pilates class on Mon., cardio on Wed., and yoga on Fri.
I wasn't doing it for the longest time, but I found myself snapping at DH more, and I realized that I really just needed ME time - time to focus on myself and get out my stress, even if it's just 20 minutes a day, I can tell you, it makes all the difference in the world.
Otherwise, what about, when you get home, taking DD for a long stroll?

Re: Full time working moms - do you exercise?
I have a treadmill at home, a gym in my office and I still do not work out. I have been taking DS for walks at night so I count that as something
And I am going to go back the the gym at work. I have a goal to loose weight before he turns 1 in OCT

Re: Full time working moms - do you exercise?
Yes, but it's REALLY hard. By the time I'm done doing absolutely everything and DS is in bed, it's usually like 8:30-9 and I'm dog tired. But I have a treadmill and I try to get in 30min take a shower and finish up around the house and get to bed. I'm exhausted and it makes me more tired, but I like it and I never get to do anything I want to or anything for me anymore and this is my one thing so I have been sacrificing sleep for it (not that I fall asleep anyway when I lay down cause I think of all the other things I have to do). Especially since I never have time or the ability to really eat the way I want to and I grab junk on the run.

Re: Full time working moms - do you exercise?
No, but I need to but by the time I'm done with the evening chores it's almost 10pm. I'm on WW and haven't been loosing much bc I haven't found time to add exercise to my routine on a regular basis. Ughh! I usually wake up at 6:30am so I might try to wake up 45 min-1 hour earlier and do a tape.

Re: Full time working moms - do you exercise?
I finally joined the gym near work (literally a 3 min drive) 6 mos after having my DD. I go at lunch time and on a rare occasion a sat or sun.
