Fun Math games?
Apparently my son is advanced in Math. I've noticed his grades in Math were always good and he always seems to zip through his HW... Recently he was administered a test and scored pretty high and I was told he is very strong left-brained.
Does anyone have any suggestions of HOW I can nurture this 'talent?'
Fun Math games or something... He LOVES board games, but if he's smart in this area, I want to encourage it as much as possible... (without making it seem like *work*)
TIA!

Re: Fun Math games?
There is also a math card game called "24"...unfortunately, I have never seen it sold anywhere, but you can get it online at
http://www.24game.com/
My students are obsessed with it. At first, some of my 4th grade boys didn't want to play it because I said it was a math game...but once everyone else started playing, I could't pry them away.

Re: Fun Math games?
These are all good ideas but there are also homemade options you can do. *Play "war" the card game, it encourages quick number sense. *Play "memory" games it helps develop spatial sense (geometry) *Encourage him to solve the cryptograms in the paper *take regular dice use 4 - and make up a random number like "21" and figure out to get 21 by adding, subtracting, etc.
ex: 4,3,5,4 = 4-3 = 1 5*4 = 20 20+1 = 21
I can get you a set of 24 cards and some number "cubes" that I made into dice.
FM me if you would like me to mail them to you.

Re: Fun Math games?
you could even do yatzee with him.... that uses reasoning skills to decide which "set" to go for, and whether to roll again or stay with the set you have
