fundraising Ideas
So my daughters school SERIOUSLY needs a new playground. We got an estimate of $50,000 to replace the existing one. She goes to a small school (only 80 families) so we need to come up with some serious fund raising ideas. Anyone have any good ones to share??

Re: fundraising Ideas
One of my friends is very active in fund raising for her church. She and her family help coordinate:
bake sales
flea markets/craft fairs
scrapbooking crops
dinners - they have international nights. They'll have smorgasbords of various types of foods catered to their lower church.
penny auction nights but not for pennies -- have familes and local business donate items. Sell tickets to deposit into the gift of your choice and pull winners from there.
Are these the types of things you are looking for?

Re: fundraising Ideas
Every year DH and I run a spaghetti dinner at our church. We sell tickets and have a chinese auction. We auction off donations made by businesses in the community. We average about $1,500-$2,000 in funds when all is said and done with about 120 people in attendence.
50/50 raffles are great ways to raise money.
Bake sales and craft fairs too.
Good luck!

Re: fundraising Ideas
My church (and where Ava goes to preschool) is doing a services auction....
Any family member who has their own business or can have their company donate something signs up and then people bid on it - we also welcome the public to come so its not just the church.
Its a lot of fun - we have food, DJ and crafts to keep the kids busy. I may donate my photo services this year and DH may donate some free lawn service.

Re: fundraising Ideas
HUGE hit at the schools is Supermarket Bingo.
Every grade is designated a theme...(ie. baking goods, paper goods, breakfast foods, pastas/sauces; etc.)
Some volunteers bag up one or 2 of each item in paper grocery bags so there is a nice assortment of things in each bag.
Ask around at local businesses to donate theme baskets. Also...send home letters with some theme ideas (ie...toy basket; movie night; sports basket; candle basket; Italian food basket; Girls-only basket; Fun for Boys basket; board games basket; etc...)
Sell bingo boards at door for $5 each...$2 each additional board (or whatever you choose). Sell raffles for the baskets for the "special" Bingo games.
My son's school makes TONS of money with this!!!!!!!!!!
Good luck!

Re: fundraising Ideas
Our PTO does tons of fundraisers... we had to raise $150,000 for our new playground in the last few years.... wrapping paper sale, fall flower sale (Mums, daisy's etc), Christmas fair (raffles, food, etc), spaghetti dinner, bingo nights, paint your own pottery night, gingerbread house night (Gingerbread University provided supplies), Scholastic book fairs (that was more to earn books for our library), Mothers Day plant sale, we are working on a cookbook idea right now...
we also did a playground fundraiser cocktail party at a local restaurant... sold tickets for dinner and entertainment and did a 50/50 raffle too... that made a lot... and approach local businesses - they donated ALOT of money and some even donated services (landscaping, removing old playground, etc)

Re: fundraising Ideas
wanted to add two more.. my school hasn't done it but my sons cub scouts do a car wash and also one of the grades for their school trip does a community yard sale... all the familys donate things that they no longer want and you have a HUGE yard sale... that makes good money and whatever isn't sold is donated
