I had a cat once attack a pair of furry slippers with little cat heads on them (like bunny slippers but cat slippers). Your cat probably thinks he's related to your boots.

I wouldnt be able to wear them out in public for the sole purpose of getting dirt on the fur. That to me, is so GROSS!!
Especially using or walking into a public bathroom. Dirt, germs and fur dont mix! Ewww!

See, I really don't like the Ugg Fluff Mommas at all... but I think the ones you posted are more along the lines of the ones I saw that looked cute on.
